    don’t care

making it harder to vote doesn’t mean people won’t overcome whatever obstacles in order to do so

Yup - and it worked exactly as intended to make it more difficult for some voters and easier for others.

    https://www.brennancenter.org/our-w...-turnout-racial-gap-persisted-georgia-primary

Our research reveals that even as primary turnout surged in Georgia, so too did the white-Black racial turnout gap. In the figure below, we plot the turnout rate for Black and white Georgians in each state primary going back to 2014. With the exception of 2020, white turnout exceeded Black turnout — but it was wider this year than any year in at least a decade. While 28 percent of Georgia’s white citizens aged 18 and older voted, that number was just 22 percent for Black Georgians — a 6 percentage point gap. In previous years, that gap never exceeded 3.5 percentage points. This is especially notable because there were Black candidates near the top of the ticket this year in both the Republican and Democratic primaries, which has been correlated with a significant increase in Black turnout in previous studies.

An analysis by NPR, WABE and Georgia Public Broadcasting also found:

    • More than half of the roughly 550,000 voters who cast their ballot using a drop box in the state's 2020 general election lived in four metro Atlanta counties — Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett — where about 50% of the voters are people of color.
    • Under the new law, the number of drop boxes in these four counties plummeted from 107 to 25.
    • Nearly 1.9 million people, a quarter of the state's voters, have seen their travel time to a drop box increase from the 2020 election.
    • More than 90% of voters who saw an increase in their travel time to a drop box live in cities or suburbs, which are home to most of the state's minority voters and vote heavily Democratic.

I wish I had a dollar every time Comm has come to a simple conclusion to prove a point that aligns with his dogmatic view. With someone then coming along like this showing why the simple conclusion is in fact wrong. Or, at the least inconclusive.

Sure Republicans could do better but we don't know that certain. For that matter in 2020 this time both GA senate seats looked like they were likely going to remain in Republican. That's why I asked if that is a wish map.

Yes and the MLB can do that. If you don't like it or think they were wrong you can not watch the MLB. Judging from the Braves playoff games it didn't look like there were many even in GA who were upset about that enough not to come out and spend their money on the MLB.

Caught a little of the Demmings Rubio debate and Demmings really took it to him. Don't think she will win but did about the best she could in a race where the odds are heavily against her.

One thing I noticed was that Rubio is following the latest Republican defenses /attack regarding abortion. That they are trying to paint their opponents as extreme in wanting no restrictions on abortion. JD Vance took the same attack line against Tim Ryan in their debate.

I think its looking great for Democrats concidering inflation and how midterms usually go.

This should be a red wave and a wipeout but Republicans can't get out of there own way.

Why would a voter who actually is on the fence and can be persuadable vote Republican, that's the question you should be asking yourself?

What about all the Republicans who have been voting Democrat since 20/20?

Yes this is looking far better for Democrats than it should given historical trends and economic issues. The problem is is that polling still shows that those things are affecting Democrats and even though it's not likely going to be at all the red wave. Republicans are still likely to take the House and it's going to be very close in the senate.

The problem is that the party in power generally gets blamed for the economy and that is where Republicans have the strongest argument. I don't think the Republicans that but that's generally how elections go. It's better to be the opposition in a bad economy.

When are people gonna wake up to the fact that Republicans don't care one iota about their needs? Oil, guns, power, and money in their pockets. That's all they care about.

Yes. Because people worked around the voter suppression law doesn't change the law's intent.

That makes no sense, the SPR is not depleted and likely 15 million barrels will be released soon to make up the reduction of 2 million barrels by OPEC+, this will help keep gas prices down. You don't really make any arguments, just throw out half truths.........I am sure you want higher gas prices to bolster the "scream from the rooftop" mentality you have. Why not come up with alternatives and solutions..........

There are so many reasons not to vote Republican. They vote no on every attempt to address inflation, healthcare, domestic violence, prescription drugs prices, tax credits, background checks and assault weapons, Veteran care, lower gas prices, voting rights, women's rights, and any other problem Americans struggle with. It's like they want to wish the worst upon Americans to blame Biden. That's disturbing in so many ways. It's bad enough they defended the coup, and now they are siding with Putin, who is committing war crimes and terrorist acts. It's hard to believe they can care so little about people and call themselves Christians.

So why did you say things are not looking good for Democrats?

So then it wasn't really that much "harder" to vote. Got it.
