My FIL is a former cop and this was basically his sentiment too. The only thing a good cop hates more than a criminal is a shitty cop.
This whole cop culture of shooting people for running has to stop. Know who else shoots things that run? Hunters.
The cop fired before the kid tried fleeing. I'm sure more folks would love dumping even more funding for popo to clean up homeless and crazies, but can we get rid of police unions before taxpayers send down the dump trucks? Cons hate unions right? All they do is waste money and stand for rot among their brothers... Can both sides agree to that??
I can not stand the constant bad decision making, habitual and pathological lying, and lack of accountability/responsibility with police a lot of officers seem straight up evil as well, just ask Elijah McClain I don’t see how a cop’s word holds any weight in court with the way they constantly lie
I was making a parallel comparison between cops (predators/hunters) and the people they chase (prey). The point is, the cops are people and the runners are people. The reactions shouldn’t be to kill the people who run to catch them. This isn’t hunting. I have no problem with hunting beside the fact that I find the sit-in-a-blind-and-drink-all-day aspect boring and there’s really no challenge to it. I think I would probably enjoy stalking a kill in the wilderness with a bow.
Attempted murder would be harder to prove. You would have to prove that the cop had an intention to murder. This is a safer charge with a higher likwlyhood of getting a conviction.
I would assume if the poor kid doesn't make it the charge would change.......I hope the poor kid pulls through
I take your point, but surely there's a stiffer charge they could have come up with. If not, there should be, in my opinion.
Last I read, the cop THOUGHT the car was stolen and one that got away from him recently. That's it. The kid didn't actually steal the car. I COULD Google it right now BUT either way, I'm coming out the other side ACAB 100.
if he was a regular civilian, he would be getting charged with attempted murder and we all know this let me shoot somebody multiple times, wait, and then shoot more rounds as they’re driving off…I’d be facing attempted murder, not assault
The problem is that a lot of the reasonably good cops don't stand up to the bad ones when they do bad things. The whole Oakland PD vs the Toronto GM incident comes to mind, where the police department hid the evidence, and even after it came out, refused to shut down the investigation over a year later.
James Brennand: Former San Antonio police officer who shot unarmed teen in a McDonald's parking lot is indicted for attempted murder, prosecutor says | CNN
I’m glad the cop was charged with attempted murder. No cop should ever fire their gun unless they think their life is in danger or someone else is in danger. Also, can people please stop running from cops? Maybe the penalty for fleeing should be more severe. Running from cops is dangerous for everyone involved. I’ve always thought that a course in law enforcement should be a requirement for all students. The course would teach young people about law enforcement careers, and teach people how to interact with law enforcement for better outcomes for all involved.
