i thought the jazz would pay big bucks for him b/c of the market as of right now ex. alston, foyle, okur, camby
We can always trade for him. As long as we're giving away our 1st round picks, why not offer it to the Jazz. Raul Lopez, their backup could be quite good as well. Interesting to see what happens.
man, even though their FA's know they have over 30 million in cap room to spend and few people willing to take it, the jazz still get them fairly cheap, especially in relation to other contracts this offseason. the spazz really are evil.
Yeah, I hope my boss doesn't get ahold of whatever they put in the Koolaid over there. Play for a tyrant of a coach in one of the most boring NBA cities for LESS money? Where do I sign?
Man, as the Rockets I think for a long time about offering the guy the whole MLE, and he ends up signing with a crappier team, with more competition at point guard, for noticably less than the MLE and for relatively long-term, to boot. All this in the midst of guys like Foyle and Okur getting a gajillion dollars despite getting less than half the starts Arroyo got last season. I don't get it.
Good find! 4yr/16M is a solid contract! That might be the best VALUE signing so far in Free Agency! Compare that to the outrageous Alston 6yr/29M contract!!?! Yikes! I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets make a SOLID effort to get Barry. Barry either takes the offer or we pull out and then wait out Fisher and get him at a reasonable price. In fact 4yr/16M is about where I see Fisher's value. Somewhere in that ballpark.
Just because some teams are overvaluring their players doesn't mean Arroyo is being undervalued here.
I think it is undervaluing. Now days, the value of a player doesn't rest on his performance, but on the FA market value for him. For example, your team just got Okur, who is a pretty good player. He's worth that much (6yr. 50 millions) in this year's FA market, due to its lack of big guys. However, that wasn't the case for last year and probably won't be the case in next year. I think your team paid the fair market price for Okur based on this year's market. Now, you team just got a GREAT deal on Arroyo. In this year's market, 4 years 16 millions is clearly a steal for that guy. So, make the deal, run then smile.
who knows. while i know it's been done before, i'm not sure how easy it is or how freely name changes are given out (especially given the huge number of people with a certain former point guard in their s/n also). maybe i'll just keep it since it's the persona behind the screen name that means more than anything on anonymous message boards and people (if anyone reads what i say) know me by this name. francis 4 mcgrady has a nice ring to it.
Suns would have hung us dry till July 29 and match that offer. In order not to let them match, you have to offer the whole MLE, I guess, but that is against the point of getting Arroyo: cheap.
