So far, what I thought was the better team has either lost or is losing GM#1 of their series. TB - 1 Guardians - 2 That one is in the books. Philly - 6 STL - 2 (9th) And the Mariners are up 3-0 (5th) on the Jays. --- ----- ------------- ---------------------------------- In a best of 3, losing the 1st game is a pretty big deal. Puts Cleveland and Philly in the drivers seat in their series. Just have to see about the Jays. Still early enough in that game for anything to happen.
Yup, two double play opportunities blown. That hit to 1st base could have been a double play had he gone to 2nd base instead of home then IDK what happened on that hit to the left side where the fielder had t-rex arms.
Yeah he’s gonna be a problem if Seattle advances. I don’t see Yuli, Peña, Chas, or Meyers even coming close to hitting that.
I know this seem most likely, but I think the actual advantage is less certain. Winning 2 games in a row versus an opponent probably doesn't feel that daunting to pro player. We haven't had 3 game Do-or-die MLB play series outside of 2020 (which was weird year on its own anyways) in a very long time to know for certain. Also I the know the quality of play is a lot less, but say look at the Super Regional stage of the CWS and the better teams lose the first game quite often but still pull out the series.
