Ya, it would ensure that teams like current houston and current utah are horrific for 2 years longer then they are in the current system, really punishes teams for not being mediocre. Unless you abolish the draft, there’s no way to prevent tanking

Idiotic idea, idk where you read this trash. Players would try to lose on purpose to avoid getting high picks, those guys just take their job

1st it’s “players don’t tank, the FO and coaching staff do”…now it’s “The players would lose on purpose!”…lol, ok..

I’m sure someone like Dame or LaMelo would have lost on purpose to avoid their team getting a top lotto pick to help them out

Sux Sampson never got to reach his full potential, but even if he had it's not on the same level as VW and that's saying a lot.

Wouldn't this keep the bad teams from ever getting better?

It would actually increase tanking as teams would rather compete for the no. 1 pick then for a sure one and done in the playoffs.

a lot of these bad teams don’t get any better anyways just wasting lotto picks every year while putting out a trash product on purpose

u can tweak it so that teams can’t be in the top 5 in the lotto in consecutive years or whatever

same thing was said about the play-in, yet teams still try instead of being completely horrible on purpose

many owners actually want to win games

True and the worst teams, the ones that are truly bad would never win in this tournament thus would never have access to the best prospects and would never get any better. Can't imagine the league doing this.

The ONLY thing that will fix tanking is relegation. If you are the worst team out of (soon to be) 32 teams, then you don't deserve to be in the NBA.

Socialism for the billionaires, capitalism for the small guys as always.

What incentive would the players have to win a tournament to get a draft pick? Why would they risk injury or having someone replace them?

The smart teams will still tank out of the playin game. Look at Toronto when they got barnes. Only the stupid teams (hornets, kings) try for the playin

TRIPLES. You just need more shooting to penetrate that defense. Just ask Giannis and company...

Yes it is, the only difference is you don't have a fan base that overreacts to every little thing and wants to so desperately post something on social media and go ...FIRST....

Ralph was every bit of the same type of prospect as Wemby.......just didn't have social media to over hype.

Quote: Jae’Sean Tate: “There’s a lot of teams around this league that think we’re still in rebuild and we’re still trying to figure things out. Our whole mindset is going and trying to punch guys in the mouth, try to be the aggressors & I think you guys are going to see that this year."

That does not sound like a rebuilding attitude or tanking one, does it?

I wouldn’t mind relegation if the NBA could work something out

This post is all over the place.

First you say they tanked by sitting the veterans last season and I quote "That is what I want to avoid" and then in the next sentence say and I quote again, "Let the kids play" which is exactly what they did last year but you say you want to avoid ?!

It's like you want your cake and eat it too ..... Which is it, do you want to play the kids or avoid sitting the vets?

And again, how do you propose to "take advantage of other teams being bad on purpose"?? What do you possess that is worth their unprotected lottery picks?

It's hard to take advantage of teams who don't care if they are bad. They don't have talent that they are willing to part with and they aren't giving you unprotected lottery picks for Sterling Brown and the corpse of Mo Harkless ....

It's the teams who are desperate to be good that you take advantage of by sending them marginal talent for their future draft assets that have a chance to be good.
