I wouldn't want to hire DeMeco Ryans until the Texans have a franchise QB. His years would be wasted if the Texans hired him without one. And then he would be fired after a couple of seasons because the team just isn't good. I'm not a person of color, but we've seen this before. How many times has a black coach been put in a terrible situation on a team that just isn't ready to win? Then fired after not being given a proper chance.
I don't even know why people talking about this. Mahomes clearly a better QB than Watson and a winner (in football and life), no one should dispute that fact.
While I agree that it would be better to wait and match HC with franchise QB (something the HC would likely prefer, as well) - you might not be able to wait. Ryans is going to get considerable attention this offseason. One thing the Texans cannot be is passive. Pounce on opportunities when they present. That's a critically important part of this process right now.
It's not good, but it's also a bit misleading. Our dbs have the most missed tackles because they are forced to tackle more than any other team in the league. Mostly because our linebackers suck, and to a lesser extent so does our defensive line.
