He certainly is someone who has that possibility. I’d argue a rookie season that started as poorly as it did, not matter how good it ended isnt enough evidence to say he IS that already.
One small thing about KPJ from yesterday's game that stood out to me was the 2 lob assists to Bruno and the assist pass to Alpi in the 3rd quarter. These plays were very close to one another and many guards would have thrown the same pass to Alpi as they would Bruno. But watching those plays, it was very clear to me that KPJ “customized” the passes to best suit the player. That’s a very valuable skill and shows he can be successful passing regardless of the lineup.
Most rookies are bad nba players, that's not new. Sure, some guys are actually impactful (mobley was, herb jones was) but mostly rookies are bad. Cade was bad, Jalen was bad. For a rookie i care more about how much potential they show then their impact. By their 3rd year though, i would want them to show they can impact a game positively. If you think KPJ wasn't horrible and all the metrics are wrong/inaccurate that's fine, we'll agree to disagree.
But wasnt that the crux of what kept labeling Jalen a bust and KPJ "horrific" last season? Advanced stats? Even though the eye testers needed to upgrade their prescriptions it was obvious to any long time ball watcher that these kids were uber skilled regardless of the stats. Just needed time to put it together. Now that the fence swings its not ok to use those same stat lines that kept them down last season to boost them up? I agree its funny to get carried away so early, but for a team so young celebrating every little win is a move in the right direction.
I don't even think +/- counts as advanced stat. It's just a basic bro stat. Even in the regular season. In preseason, it should be banned from even being calculated.
Thats funny because last season in every possible moment it was always "OMG JALEN GREEN WAS A -20 HE'S A BUST" now that he's on the flip side its "nah that stat aint even a good one" LOL.
That takes too much effort. I can corroborate. It definitely did happen. Maybe it wasn't preseason but I'm not going to bother to check.
Its easy. Go look at the game logs. Real quick Jalen was a net positive in games 2, 33, 36, 39, 43, 45, 57, 60, 62, 64, 66, 70, 72, 74, 75, 78, and 81. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/greenja05/gamelog/2022 For such an insignificant stat im surprised its even recorded!
He also carried Olajuwon and Drexler You said you would stop sprinkling rainbow fentanyl on your fruit loops.... messing up your brain. Lol
