I've got a couple more questions about Firefox, so I guess I'll see if anyone minds fielding them. First of all, Firefox does not allow me to load multiple .pdf's in the same session. If I open a .pdf and want to open another one, I have to X out the browser and reopen Firefox. It's annoying, though not really all that big of a deal. Also, Java applets/scripts (not really sure what the difference is, but anyway sites requiring Java) often do not load right. Either they refuse to load at all, or they behave incorrectly. Is there a Java plugin that you need to download like you do for Shockwave? Thanks.
<a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=winmx+spyware&sourceid=firefox&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8">Googled it</a>, but I may have been hasty in saying there was no problem. It looks like some people say "yes", but more say "no". Hmm, will look into it further.
arkoe -- I'd forgotten about your post! Thanks for bumping it: About PDFs -- which version of Adobe Acrobat Reader do you have? Also, what version of Firefox are you using? I'm at 0.9.1 with Acroread 6 and it's working fine for me. About Java -- you'll probably need to re-install Java (<a href="http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html">Download 1.4.2 here</a>) for it to work. Javascript should work fine, but if you want to run Java applets, etc., you probably should reinstall Java. For Javascripts that don't work properly, it'd most likely be because they are not coded according to standards, and are IE-only scripts. I don't come across too many of these any more, but if you're having problems on specific pages, post them and I'll take a look.
Thanks Vengeance. I hadn't tried .pdf's since I downloaded 0.9.1 the other day, it works fine now. Thanks for the Java link.
