Ukraine can not join NATO while at war with Russia.

This might be more in positioning Ukraine wrt peace settlements with Russia, where Ukraine, NATO and Russia make a security agreement .. to protect Ukraine in case those pesky Nazis come back.

There's no way in hell countries would ratify them into NATO in their current situation.

It's also a clear and politically expedient response to the illegal annexation move and the nuclear threats. They want to make Ukrainian NATO membership a given, a done deal and no longer a bargaining chip. NATO can now openly say "Ukraine is part of us as soon as the war is over."

I think Putin is ok with it now given how his propoganda has been spinning it that Russia is actually fighting NATO forces instead of Ukranian ones.

I hope they start these peace talks soon. And I hope Russians have enough sense in them to not want to fight NATO out of spite - they can't be that suicidal after starting a war for no apparent reason, but a desire of former grandeur. Judging by weird signs among the propaganda machine, perhaps they will try to spin fatigue and resignation after few small victories. One can only hope

Because there is circumstantial evidence that Russia was involved and Russia has undertaken such misleading actions such as claiming that Ukraine is run by Nazis.

Also the US has easier ways of stopping the pipeline like having Germany just turn off the tap.

Now why do so many on the Right just jump to the conclusion that the Russian narrative is correct?

The big issue there is that Ukraine also has a big say in this. They have said they have no interest in peace talks following the annexation of these provinces and not while they are seeing success on the battlefield.

Social Media promotes contrarians over people who are otherwise ordinary non-contrarians.

Tim Pool does not exist if he is not taking controversial hot takes. Same with Glenn Greenwald and all the other self-aggrandized blatherers.

Right. Ukranians will have to have a conversation with NATO countries with regards to their boarders and I'm sure they understand it (it looked like a big security council and they are all smart people).

edit: we have to remember that it is Ukranian people who are facing the threat of nuclear weapons being used against them, so politically it might be one of the best times to try and salvage peace, where Ukranians gain long term peace and protection from nuclear warheads, whereas Russia economically weakens one of the biggest threats on its western border and also closes that border from within, so as to avoid political meddling of the west.

Kinda hard to believe that the liberals might take such a hawkish and cold blooded move as sabotaging their own allies' interests.

On the other hand the Russians are claiming that they are not bluffing with regards to tactical nuclear strikes and so to sort of support the seriousness of that claim, they are burning the one of the biggest economic bridges that they have with Europe.

What if it was no one but poor maintenance to blame?

There were four pipes lines (each nord stream has two pipelines) that got "maintenance issues" all at the same time? I find it hard to believe especially considering that no one is posing that version in the mainstream media..

Weirdness - apparently Putler doesn't understand how ball point pens work?

After every signature on his decrees annexing Ukrainian land, he dips his pen back into the stand, like he's working with a feather quill and an inkwell. Putler acts like geopolitics is still in the 18th century, and I guess he thinks technology still is too.

Quoting Kennedy is cool and all, but this situation doesn't apply to those fancy words.

Russia invaded the Ukraine, got beat back out of the country, and then held a mock election saying that they were going to annex the part of the country they no longer holds. Now, they're saying that because they are being threatened, it is grounds for nuclear assault.

They instigated, got punched in the mouth, and now want to pull a gun on the world.

That's not what Kennedy was talking about. This guy is either dumb, likes to use irrelevant quotes for no good reason, or is a Russian apologist...

Lend-Lease for Ukraine officially goes into effect today, greatly accelerating, facilitating, and simplifying delivery of weapons to Ukraine.

Appeasement always works out so well. We should just give Putler whatever he wants this time and I'm sure he'll be satisfied and we'll never hear from him again.

No ball point pens allowed because as an ex spy he knows they or something that looks like it could be used to kill him.

The fate of the 2500+ Russian soldiers in Lyman is TBD. Lucky few were able to escape.
