Could have easily lost 5 of their last 6 going into tonight. Almost got swept by the Orioles, who may have been fighting for their playoff lives but were struggling before we got to Baltimore.
So now struggling is defined as winning games they could have lost? I mean, they could be 0-156 right now.
Now you have to figure out how many of those last 18 or so games they lost but could have won. Then and only then can we determine their Theoretical Postseason Stretchdrive record. If your TPS reports aren't done tonight, I'm afraid I'll need you to come in and finish them on Saturday.
The Orioles were struggling before the Astros got to town, then we got shut out two games in a row, gave up 10 runs and had to fight from behind to win a game we were lucky to steal, and then needed extra innings to win the final game. Then we came home and lost a game to a team that is eliminated from the playoffs. This isn’t a question of “anything is possible.” This is a case of watching the team clearly struggle over the last week and again tonight.
Impossible to win a game when you don’t put up any runs, and usually hard to win a game when you give up 10.
Well, sort of. The Mets lost, so our magic number with them is now 1. It's still 2 for the Braves. Those two teams are playing each other, so at least one of them won't be an issue after this weekend regardless of what the Astros do vs the Rays.
Astros better get ready to be ready! I have confidence we will dominate. Dusty is going to have to roll the dice when necessary though.
No one ever gets very far in life, certainly in sports, thinking back on “remember whens.” There’s no reason to give up on Valdez, as he’s certainly proven his worth, but that doesn’t mean his struggles shouldn’t be acknowledged. I’ll guarantee he’s more upset with himself than anyone on this message board tonight.
Sure but it’s also hard to lose games when you score more runs than your opponent. But we could have right?
