Sign him to the Gleague team, is not as if he has offers from other teams that are going to steal him from us. He can always be converted into a two way contract.
Assuming we keep KJ, does the below seem right? KPJ/Ty Ty/Nix Green/Christopher/Mathews EG/Tari/KJ Jabari/Tate/Favors Sengun/Garuba/Boban
I would suspect we do not settle on a rotation all year, but rather give people ample playing time to show they are a rotation piece for the future as the earn the time throughout the year. The wonderful world of rebuilding. One week you may see Washington and the next week Nix.
I like the trade. I think Favors is good enough to fill holes for competitive teams when their big men go down with an injury. I think we'll see him moved by the trade deadline, most likely for expirings and another future second. Aside from that, we're not taking on any long-term salary and talent wise pretty much stay the same.
Everything from camp / Silas interviews indicates that Tate is starting. My bet is the lineup to start the year looks like this: KPJ/Christopher/[Nix/Ty Ty] Green/Mathews Tate/EG Jabari/Tari/KJ Sengun/Favors or Boban/[Garuba] With guys in brackets getting some DLeague stints. Still looks like KJ is the odd man out here, unless Tari isn't ready for a rotation role yet (which I doubt based on everything we've seen from him thus far)
Haven't read through the thread but an interesting aspect of the deal is Favors being from ATL and having a hometown connect with Jabari
I find the whole trade odd. Unlikely partners. Massive amount of players involved. Marginal upside for both clubs. I wonder what party cooked this up? OKC wanting the cap relief? Couldn't find a better trade partner than Houston? Hard to imagine Houston went to all this for a 2nd rounder that I cant visualize us needing. Maybe used as trade sweetener for some future deal maybe. I like us ending up with Favors though. We needed, still need, size. The trade deadline in 2023 may be pretty interesting for Houston.
What did Silas say about Tate starting? https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/rockets-eric-gordon-favorite-to-start-at-sf/amp/
I’m sure it was mostly OKC wanting to get below the tax. The Rockets get a 2nd and they get to consolidate a few players who were going to be cut into a single salary chunk in the form of Favors. His impact on the games is minimal, but it’s good to have one guy carrying that salary for trade purposes.
I think OKC was already below tax line, but this has allowed them to move further below it. Gives them more freedom to operate in terms of adding salary when making trades this season (if they so wish)
Was this the first okc rockets trade with stone? Players involved. guys this could be another Harden deal. The French dude is him.
