maybe they know they aren't going to be good this year so why wear down Pierce with a bunch of carries?
I'll give him a pass on personnel. He inherited the worst roster in the NFL and limited resources. But they don't have a player that would rank top 50% at their position, and his two head coaching hires & searches were absolute disasters. I'm not terribly enthused by him.
We will probably never get a clear answer on this but personally think Cal/Easterby had a lot to do with how the recent searches were conducted. The hiring process under Cal has been one $hit show after another.
I've seen this theorized - and it may very well be true. Here's the thing: neither version makes Nick look very good. He either conducted the searches or he was sidelined on the most important decision a franchise can make. And let's not forget the NFL had to tackle him so he wouldn't hire Josh McOsteen.
The defense is playing well. The problem is they are getting tired because they are on the field too much.
Easterby pushed McCown, Cal stop that hiring in 2021. Easterby again pushed McCown.....HARDER. Cal was more receptive, Janice McNair was like McCown (she really likes Easterby). Don't know if Cal would have pulled the trigger, without the Flores lawsuit. We may never know. However, the reason Easterby has disappeared and MAY be on his way out is he lost that power play.
Pierce is great. Why stop there? Sign a washed up Mack? Give Burkhead an extension. There are guys sitting on their sofa right now that could step in and bring more wiggle than Rex. It's an abomination.
