When ad revenue went away it was only a matter of time before newspapers and other journalistic institutions became the playthings of oligarchs, both liberal and conservative.

 

Most large media orgs are family owned/controlled.

 

What are we going to do about it

 

This is nothing new.

William Randolph Hearst controlled a large part of the media and forced it to report according to what was best for him. He used it to ruin people. His power lasted until the 1950’s.

Rupert Murdoch owns Fox News, National Geographic, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, The Daily Telegraph, The Post.

Ted Turner owned CNN and C-Span.

Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post

Glen Taylor owns the large newspaper in Minnesota

John Henry owns The Boston Globe

Sheldon Adelson bought the big paper in Las Vegas and ex employees have accused him of trying to shape their coverage of him and toward his political beliefs.

I believe the Atlantic was bought by the widow of an Apple founder too.

So the media being bought by the ultra rich is nothing new and it actually isn’t as bad in the USA as the rest of the world. Both Republicans and Democrats have bought the media.

While that is super super super duper extra scary, the one saving grace is that she only has deep ties to Socialists. Thank goodness she isn't one herself. I shiver just thinking of scary socialists.

It's why you shouldn't get your news from big media, and search out several as unbiased (as possible) sources online if possible before you form opinions.
