I asked MB what he meant. He has yet to respond. He has said Baker is racist because he plays Hispanic players over Chas and Meyers. He has said that Maris got more flack for breaking Ruth's record and a POC would not have received the same treatment even though Aaron received death threats when he chased down Ruth's career record. He said Baker was untouchable because of issues not related to baseball. What do you think he means by that?
Meyers doesn't deserve to play but Chas not playing while Yuli does isn't right. I don't think Baker is a racist though. I think he's an idiot. On Aaron, I would agree that take is ridiculous. Aaron went through a lot and that shouldn't be undermined. Well, he was forced on us. I think it's a human relations thing. He certainly didn't get the job on merit. I would assume that's what he meant. I don't think it had anything to do with race though. He was a punishment which says all you need to know about him as a manager
This is the single most delusional post I have ever seen. Aaron received many, many death threats solely because he was black - after the civil rights movement of the late 60s. And Maris received horrible vitriol because he was threatening the icon Babe Ruth 13 years earlier. The idea that if Maris was black everyone in what is a notoriously racist fan base in the Bronx - or anywhere else in the US - would have cheered him is, quite literally, insane. As for the substance - career records have never been treated the same way as single season ones. Career records are defined by a career. If one career is longer, people don’t debate the validity of the record, they debate longevity (Rose) vs greatness (Cobb). A single season record is, by definition, only a record due to a time limitation. If the time available changes, whether the record stands is a legitimate debate. But there is nothing legitimate about saying Maris would have been embraced if he were black - that is just fairy-tale racial victimhood.
There are not enough ****ing eyeroll emojis on the entire internet to do justice to this totally dumbass post.
Maldy since July1, 51G, 49 starts: .242 .304 .458 .761 Last 10?: .303 .361 .485 .846 10 Before that?: Bad...very, very bad 10 Before that?: .300 .353 .567 .920 etc...etc...etc... You could look all this up if you cared to, given your love of grids and spreadsheets and such.
I looked up last 7, last 15 and last 30 on MLB.com; Then First half/Second half on Baseball Reference. That all you get. At the time, last 7 was the ONLY one better than 700 OPS. I think I was awake when i posted, but I'm not sure.
I understand giving Altuve the day off after getting drilled. Two days off next week (Monday + Thursday). Then they'll have five days off until the playoffs (10/6 to 10/10). There's plenty of opportunities to rest guys so let's go ahead and rest Bregman, let's rest Tuck, etc etc.
Conspiracy theory: Dusty rarely played Yanier because he was part of the Straw trade, which he is still bitter about, and this is what the current reports from Rome and Rosenthal regarding internal conflict and power struggle is based on.
I meant he is a man of his time. He suffered actual racism and it cemented his own against others. Now he benefits from being untouchable.
Unfortunately it worked that way. The chip on his shoulders never really went away. It just wasn't as blatant. Now we are three generations removed from the ability to see clearly what is in front of our eyes. I will never convince those who will not see. You cannot convince me of what I see. So let's just let it be and maintain the fantasies without demanding others see it OUR WAY.
I'm not demanding anything. you can think whatever you want. I'm just trying to make sure I understand what your are saying. And from your answers to my questions, you are convinced that Baker is racist towards white players.
LOL. You are a bigot. You must be a conservative because that is their argument about anything that calls out their hatred.
