That's not what I said at all and I never said I value Bregman over Carlos.

Why don't you go back and read what I actually said?

Man you are tying yourself into knots.

I would have no problem paying most of what Correa wanted over 3 years it's the other 7 I have issues with and I would have the same problem paying Bregman that much.

This just shows your basic lack of comprehension for the English language.

So now you know Bregman is going to be very overpaid in the next 2 years?

Now Bregman out here catching strays, LOL.

That is weird come to think of it. Kind of like Rocket River's posting style.

off topic , but political figure Andrew yang also said in an interview he typed like this once . How do you guys on mobile have restraint to properly punctuate ?

I’m just in the habit of hitting space after every word . That leads to a space in between the word and the period .

if you guys are so disturbed by it petition autocorrect . :)

And now you understand why having a higher WAR leads to being paid more... regardless of a players ability to hit 30 HR's and drive in 100 RBIs.

What does that have to do with anything I have posted in here, this was never about a discussion of what WAR means or the value of it.

Can you ever reply to something I have actually said and stop with the misdirection?

"This is not about his worth as a shortstop, it's about him being a true MVP type player and having that type of production."

It still shocks me to see teams pay big money for these players year after year. It doesn't make sense. No player has ever been worth their 300 million dollar contract. Baseball being the ultimate team sport it really doesn't matter how good 1 player is. Mike Trout can't even make the playoffs and has been regarded as the best baseball player for years.

Astros will probably finish this season with about the same record replacing Correa with a rookie. How big was his actual impact to our team at this point? Teams should always be cycling through good players and trading them for prospects when they expire if they are asking for 300 million dollars.

This isn't basketball or a quarterback in football where 1 single player really makes that much of a difference. IN baseball the best players still suck at their job at least 67% of the time.

This seems like a weird statement, given that there have only ever been 9 $300MM contracts in baseball, and 8 of them are still in the first 3-4 years of contract and all those players are still stars. Only Stanton really has failed and that's partly been due to injuries.

Meanwhile, while people debate whether Correa is ever going to get paid, he's the 3rd highest paid position player in MLB this year.

Among the mega-contracts (>$200m), i think the only unequivocal team win is the Nats with Scherzer's 7 year deal. Way more of those mega contracts are undone by injuries than not.

That being said, these deals are being handed out younger and younger so there's much better odds now that they'll pan out.

A contract over 6 years in any sport is asking for trouble.

And why in the F are people still sticking up for Correa on here like it was a mistake to let him go? He ain't the second coming and never will be. I'm glad to see him go at his longevity price range and expected it since mid last year.

    Two different ideas:

Sticking up for Correa: justfied. He's a fantastic ball player. A lot of people (myself included) think there's another offensive level or two in the tank but even if he never reaches that, he's a fantastic player on a hall of fame trajectory.

Mistake to let him go: most people don't seem all that upset at him leaving.

    Correa - Respect.

I will never understand the venom some fans spew

Carlos never asked to play in Houston. Ballplayers have no choice where they and play for a fraction of the money tenured players make.

Carlos spent 10 years of his life and made about $27M when other players, LESSER PLAYERS were making $15, $20M or even more every season.

They say that a FA should perform at the rate of 5-8 WAR per million?

Correa had over 31 bWAR as an Astro for that $27M

And helped bring a World Series trophy to Houston

He has earned the ability to go where he wants and make as much $$ as he can get.

And any Astro fan who trashes him for it is sub-human and an embarrassment

    Exactly.

and now that the Astros young pitching is panning out, and Yordan locked up, the Astros window is now beyond the 2 years that Altuve/Bregman have left. They’re going to be in the market for upgrading the lineup within a few years.

Because it is more interesting than hearing a guy endlessly misunderstand basic differences in positional value … you know if you hit space twice after the last word of a sentence, it is a period and a space? You don’t have to ever hit shift or touch the actual period button. Definitely faster on a mobile.
