Actually, that is not true. A friend of mine who knows quite a few people around the league have said the Rockets have been a prime destination for a while - new arena, Yao, etc. Guys have wanted to play in Houston since the drafting of Yao and were even interested before that because the organization is sound and has a record of treating players well and striving for championships.

I mean, all we have to do is look at the most recent trade to tell us that. McGrady picked Houston because of Yao and because of the organization. The Rockets have a well-deserved reputation for doing things the right way.

Of course we are going to be a destination with T-Mac and Yao, but we were one prior to this as well, just not as publicized.

And, of course, these are agents talking. They want Rox money -- and roster spots -- for their guys.

I think next year will be even better.

Weatherspoon and Pike will be in their final year, so they're very tradeable. AG comes off the books as well.

We need to trade Juwanna man for expiring contracts and we're in good shape.

Other than the T-Mac trade, this is the 1st time in a long time I'm really happy to be a Rockets fan. We just need a couple more pieces to this awesome team and damn, we're a contender again!

A little off topic, but does anyone know when the T-Mac jerseys will come out? Tim, anyone?

Anyone else think that T-Mac will have the #1 selling jersey next season. Lebron and Carmelo led the way last season, but I don't see any rookie jerseys making big sales this season.

I don't think money and roster spots are the only reason those agents were praising the Rockets. Like Jeff said, the Rockets have had a good reputation for years. You don't hear agents praising Chicago, the L.A. Clipper or Milwaukee like that, and they could easily get money and roster spots for there clients on those teams. Heck, Utah and San Antonio has a ton of money to throw at people and you don't hear that type of praise, though San Antonio is a good place.

I trust agents' words even less than most of the posts on this board.

Hmmm... new fans to the team.

Can I claim credit for the new term "TMOF"... can imagine them getting chewed up old posters on this board. I guess YOFs will be upgraded to semi-old-school Rox supporters now. :)

That's what I love to hear. Love to hear that Houston has that edge for Free Agents. That is a key. And hopefully because of that edge we will be able to sign some FAs for decent values, perhaps below Market Value.

That'd be nice if Detlef Shrempf was still young. He'd be calling.
