My brother and I talk about this all the time. It’s wild. The average isn’t nearly as bad as I remember, but the OPS is still pretty damn horrible comparatively.
In what way? Distance of homers he is his equal or better. As a player? Judge has done things Yordan hasn’t yet.
He is more than 5 years younger than Judge. Per 162g Judge 119r / 26 dbl / 49hr / 111rbi. / .972OPS Yordan 110r / 38dbl / 45hr / 126rbi / .976OPS To equal Judge's age 30 totals Yordan needs: 281r / 19dbl / 118hr / 215rbi in the next 5 years. Who will be better then next 5 years? Yordan ages 26-30 or Judge ages 31-35?
We need to see a lot more Hensley playing infield, because it's a great time to evaluate if he can be Diaz's successor.
I approve of this line-up in September with a 14 game lead. L/R/S POS PLAYER OBP SLG OPS+ R 2B ALTUVE, Jose 377 508 885 R LF DIAZ, Aledmys 309 429 738 L DH ALVAREZ, Yordan 408 624 1032 R 3B BREGMAN, Alex 376 465 841 L RF TUCKER, Kyle 335 485 820 R 1B MANCINI, Trey 293 422 715 R CF McCORMICK, Chas 319 403 722 R C VASQUEZ, Christian 273 247 520 R SS HENSLEY, David 435 421 856 Vasquez is a better hitter than he's shown so far. He is spelling Maldy before the playoffs and that is a good thing. Gurriel being given rest by Mancini at 1B is also good. I'm looking forward to 9 through 5 today. 8 of the 9 are slugging better than 400.
