    The flip side
We are a nation that loves to victimize others

    Most of Social Media is
    1. People mad about something - feeling victimized
    2. People mad about people feeling victimize or mad about something
    3. People absolutely orgasmic about people being mad about something

We are a nation that loves antagonizing each other
    And
We love to be victim . . .

    Victims victimize

Being a victim pays really well. BLM hauled in over 90 millions and some change.

When the ethnic and religious majority that has disproportionate political and wealth clout in your region starts b****ing about being oppressed, it's time to get the **** out because some seriously f'd up **** is about to happen.

I don't think that my point is the intention of ATW's post but I just want to make sure that people know that this country has a bunch of suburban white Christians who believe they are oppressed right now and that's scary.

That's nothing compared to MAGA victimhood. Trump rolled in well over a billion playing on how whites are the victims of evil liberals trying to steal their jobs and culture.

Meh. The right is projecting again. I don't see this problem in the real world.

I might nitpick the point a little, but without total conviction that the nitpick is correct…

Are we really worried about suburban white Christians in this context? I think that cohort is reasonably well educated and their support of Trump changed from 2016 to 2020 because they’re not total idiots.

If we are painting in broad strokes, it is the rural/less educated cohort that worries me. Their world isn’t going well and they’re the ones embracing the victimhood, white nationalism, Christian nationalism, q anon and Trumpism.

This is the amusing part of this whole thing. The entire GOP ethos is about victimhood - victims of the liberal media, of political correctness, of gay activists, of immigrants, stolen elections, athiests and Muslims, etc. The entire message that the GOP promotes is that your life sucks because of everyone else.

There are real victims and there is victimhood. There is egocentric victimhood and there is systematic victimhood.

Trump branded Republicans from day 1 was built on egocentric victimhood so strong they think it's real and so out of touch with reality that they think real victims are not real victims. None of this is new to politic, but Trump made it their #1 plank. Their cries are deafening, but only if it's just that. Jan6 was a direct result of victimhood as a political strategy.

Even got a paper on it.

‘Why Me?’ The Role of Perceived Victimhood in American Politics

People who voted for Donald Trump and feel warmly towards him tend to score higher on a measure of egocentric victimhood, according to new research published in the scientific journal Political Behavior. Those who exhibit heightened levels of systemic victimhood, in contrast, tend to be more hostile towards Trump.

“Egocentric victims—Democratic and Republican, liberal and conservative—support Trump more than their less victimized counterparts. This is sensible. Donald Trump claims to work for these people by trying to restore America to a time before its people were victims; he tells them it is not their fault,” Armaly and Enders wrote in their study.

There was no significant difference between the level of victimhood between Democrats and Republicans overall. However, Armaly and Enders observed that increased egocentric victimhood was associated with increased support for Trump, while increased systemic victimhood was associated with reduced support for Trump.

The researchers found that those who scored higher on the measure of victimhood tended to be less emotionally stable, more narcissistic, more conspiratorial, and more distrustful of government.

“This allows for competition for victim status — who is a ‘legitimate’ victim and who isn’t? This competition has implications for popular support (or lack thereof) for various political outcomes, as well as polarization and political strife.”
