Good to see Hensley get some run but it's amusing that despite his biggest calling card being a multi-positional, up-the-middle defender... he gets to DH.
That's pretty much all he's done, he's only started 2 games in the field. I've given up on figuring out how Dusty decides to do things. He does know the players personalities better than I, but It sure seems like this would have been an ideal DH day for Altuve, Mancini, Yuli or Bregs.
Can Hensley play 2B? Would like it more to give Altuve rest and let him bat DH. Just seems like a waste to let Hensley bat DH when you can use it to rest an infielder.
At this point I just wish they would lie to me and call it a scheduled off day. The good news is that he is actually hitting here recently as opposed to looking awful with this hand issue. So there's hope he can still be a productive bat in October.
Yes, in AAA this year he played: 33 games at SS, 23 games at 2B, 24 games at 3B, 9 games at 1B and 6 games at LF.
Why? Because I thought it was behind him. I think most did. Our best hitter has a lingering hand problem that he isn’t getting over. We need him at full strength in the playoffs.
They've made it clear, multiple times, that this isn't gonna be healed during the season and they are just gonna manage it.
If they don't think that will help, then that might actually be worse for him since he seems to be back to raking Yordan. If he goes on the IL we'd have to hope Yordan gets his mojo back right as the playoffs start.
