I guess you haven't been to our nation's largest city. The conditions you describe NY perfectly.

You've got to be kidding... that's the best you can come up with??
What's wrong with a country having a high standard of living? You have to find something wrong somewhere? Feeling insecure? Be proud you're an American and be glad countries like Norway exist. They're friendly, the chicks are hot, and you don't have to feel guilty about not giving squat to them in foreign aid.

They're not the Sudan. And maybe they live better than a lot of us. So what.

    Low homogenous population
    Outrageous natural wealth
Easily defensible borders and Super Power allies
    1000 years of governmental tradition

Damn! That's like Kobe and Shaq getting to add two hall of famers to their team. Norway should win that championship every year. ( oh wait)

One note on socialized health care. It is absoultely the ideal way to go but the only way it can be maintained at an adequate level is with a very, very wealthy government behind it. Without the cruel triage of the 'ability to pay' most of the worlds health industry would become quickly overwhelmed.

Of course, I'm a right-handed liberal. Maybe that explains it.

    Nice listen

Norwegian ambassador and Bernie discuss a number of realities in Norway that are commonly referenced as communism, pie in the sky, and or terrible economics within American political discourse. The most interesting part to me was the minimum wage at McDonald's being $20 an hour despite the famous tagline of them not having a min wage, the union situation in the country ensures virtually all people very good wages.
