Very true. The game also was often much slower in the past, so less opportunities to score even with more playing time. Not to mention all of the rule changes. Which is why I said comparing past and present really isn't a fair assessment.

Sure, but the globalization also resulted in a lot more better players, I mean compare Giannis, Jokic and Luka today to Kukoc back then.

I think it is easier to score, but the quality of players today are so high 80% of players back then arent gonna be able to play in the league. Thats why you see guys get injured and have short careers despite the onset of technology, the demands on the body today is much higher than before.

Bron is the goat. Love him or hate him, this is his 20th season being a superstar. MJ was washed year 15 and that's after taking time off 2 times. Bron will prob end his career the all time leader in almost every stat.

Just facts. Bron's played 20 yrs without a break MJ quit 2 times while playing 5 less years total. Bron's won with different teammates and in different teams and situations MJ rode the Jordanners to all 6 of his rings and have 0 rings when he isn't with Pippen and Phil Jackson. Did he even get out of 2nd round by himself? I don't really remember. Bron's played the better competition, including the modern day featuring the best athletes NBA has ever seen. He has the most pts all time locked up, and will prob also have most rebs and assists when he is done. I mean let's be honest if MJ and Bron played 1on1 old school style Bron would destroy MJ, MJ is 6'4 on a good day Lebron is 6'8 and has the body of Karl Malone. Bron can just body him up and dunk on him every play and MJ can't really do anything about it since he is 30 pounds lighter and 4 inches smaller. Yeah MJ has 2 more rings vs a weaker era, but Lebron has way more Finals appearances, like a lot more than MJ who never even reached the ECF till he got a power team of his own.

Bron also beats MJ outside the court. Bron's never had a major scandal, never got accused of bullying or gambling or massive infidelity. His kids are better players than MJ's kids ever were. Even GM Lebron whoops all over GM Jordan, at least Lebron's megalomania resulted in a ring in Cleveland and LAL, MJ picked Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison.

I mean we are talking about the GOAT right? Assessment should include all aspects not just rings.

I enjoyed watching Jordan play more, but LeBron James is about the closest we've seen to a perfect basketball player. Even his one pseudo-weakness, his outside shot, is not something teams really wanted to test in his prime--he had stretches of seasons where he actually shot the three well. Not to mention, inconsistent outside shot was a weakness of Jordan's too.

The crazy thing is that while people will talk about how Jordan had two acts as a basketball player--the insanely athletic young version and the "Jedi Jordan" older version--James had a bunch of different incarnations, where he reconfigured himself and his game. His early career was a lot like a bigger Jordan--an incredible slasher and mid-range shooter. Miami James shot the ball well from three. Second Cleveland stint LeBron became a very effective physical paint scorer. And all along the way, he's been a great passer and a great, all-position defender.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either guy, but IMO it comes down to James' superior size and strength making him more versatile, especially on the defensive end.

Impressive accomplishment in any era of bball from an all-time player. That being said, just don't care.

Truth hurts. It's amazing that retiring the 2nd time actually helped MJ's legacy rather than hurt it. It's the Shaedon Sharpe effect in full display cuz you never saw the dude age and play on a bad team he gets imprinted in everyone's mind as this perfect player always.
