I think some people are not being fair in their expectations of Jeremy Pena.

First, he isn't near the physical talent that Correa is and never will be.

I compared Pena to Brandon Crawford last year, and I think that is an apt comparison.

Jeremy Pena has some weaknesses. He either has to anticipate fast ball and sit on it, or he will not hit breaking stuff. That makes him a flawed hitter.

He is going to be a guy with an OPS in the high 600's to the very low 800's because he is such a guess hitter.

Because he plays SS, has some pop and has an approach tailored to him; he can be a valuable guy - but he really should be hitting 7-9 in the order most of the time.

I wonder, if the Twins miss the playoffs entirely, how does that affect his offseason decisions?
Still glad to be in Minny for years to come?

I don’t think the Twins results have anything to do with it. He will have a better deal lined up that he wants to execute on and opt out, or he will play it out. Regardless of if they win the World Series or finish 3rd in the central.

Regardless of his inner feelings do you really expect him or any other athlete in a possible walk year to say anything different about his current team?

Different jersey, same results against the Yankees.

Correa left his "I can't hear you" while rounding 3rd base back in Houston?

No, I don't. He is saying all the right things, doesn't mean what he says represents how he really feels though.

Not picking on Correa here. They all play the 'Tell the media what they want to hear' game.

I really hope he doesn’t go there. I root for him in Minnesota and want the best for him. If he goes to LAD or NYY would suck to root against him nonstop.

Typical BS. He expects to Opt Out AND expects to stay in Minnesota for many years to come. REALLY?

Simply put, no team can pay 25 guys premium top money. Correa is an amazing talent, nobody doubts that. But he wanted 350 million dollars over 10 years; which nobody else was willing to fork out. Safe to say, Correa overestimated his value last season.

But signing Correa with his salary and years, is a huge opportunity cost at fielding talent at other positions.

Astros knew that Peña was a huge talent, that although no where near the top echelon talent as Correa, would give you a top level player.

I've seen reports saying both, yes.

Doesn't seem to matter what the topic is, someone(s) will write the opposite view.

For instance, a few folks think WB and PB are going to be a top guard tandem this coming year o_O
