Agree this is like Brantley. There’s a reason his hand or hands hurt. May not know until he’s shut down for the season.
Its clear Yordan thinks he can and should play through this… his performance is saying otherwise, and the Astros shouldn’t be in a rush to try and figure it out with this cushion. He’ll rest/IL. It will either be good enough to warrant late season/playoff AB’s or it won’t.
This. Hands don't stay continuously "sore" for weeks/months for no reason. There's clearly a serious injury issue with Yordan's hand. And I suspect that the Astros know exactly what that issue is, and have known for the past 2 months, and have known that it isn't going to get resolved with a simple IL stint, and have known that if it needed surgery that it would probably be at least a multi-month recovery effort for Yordan. Thus, they (and probably Yordan himself) were hoping that he could just play/gut through it until the season's over, and then do whatever really needs to be done to fix it in the offseason. That hope doesn't seem to be panning out. In addition to the Brantley situation, this also reminds me of Bregman's wrist injury situation last season and how that was handled.
I don't care if we win another regular season game this season. Have the big horses back for October and redeem the 2017 team.
MVP outta reach and big contract signed.. Let Yordan chill for on a 15 IL .. No need to keep playing with fire
