Man wouldn't it be great if the traded those two guys to the Lakers for Westbrook. Watching Westbrook having to play in UTah would be must see tv.
Danny Ainge is nothing but a liquidator and not a very good one. He has perfected the 10 year job security. The reason he left Boston is because he had no one else to trade and it was then becoming a matter of if you are a good gm or not. And I personally don’t think he is. He trades players in their prime for future draft picks and everyone loves him for it. This is the rare deal that helps no one. Cleveland isn’t in a position to go all in at this point but they did and basically became the Jazz. Mitchell is almost as selfish of a player as Kyrie and now this stunts the growth of Evan Mobley. In fact, I could see Michell being a lock room cancer for that young team.
All things considered that's huge for Sexton - dude was on the verge of getting a QO and being buried in a rotation. Probably was hoping he would make more than that, but at least he has a chance to ball out on a bad team - Ainge is going to showcase him for more picks.
Okoro would go great in that slot to cover for Mitchell. If he can just shoot a little, just the minimum level of being a competent shooter, that lineup will be deadly. Another underrated part of this deal for Cleveland is that they only lost one rotation player from their playin team last year. They still have Love/Rubio/Levert/Wade/Lopez/Stevens on the bench.
Love this trade for Utah. Hate it for the Cavs. Donovan Mitchell is the liability in the playoffs - not Gobert. Dude cannot defend to save his life and while he's an excellent scorer, he's a far cry from a Steph Curry or James Harden and simply isn't good enough on that end to offset his defensive deficiencies. They gave up too much for him. But it will be fun to watch that Cavs team compete. And they may be good enough to beat the Nets a few times in the season and I am certainly here for that. Anything that improves our picks is good with me!
Ainge and Utah have done a great job extracting maximum value in both deals. Agbaji will be a very good player in this League for a long time.
I think the Knicks are good to have not done this deal…5 unprotected picks for Mitchell when he’s not taking them anywhere Is that worth it? might be worth it for the Cavs since they’re already a lot better than the Knicks and have 3 young All-Star caliber players that Mitchell is joining…the Knicks situation is totally different Unless Mitchell would entice a superstar to go there in free agency? Not sure if that would be the case Knicks might as well save all their picks for when a legit superstar becomes available that isn’t aging Durant
I agree that Mitchell has his faults, but the two bigs are top notch defensive presences. Unlike Golbert, Mobley is not a liability on the perimeter nor a nonfactor outside of a lob threat. Cavs aren't winning a title this year with that roster but it'll be the best Cavs team outside any Lebron-led team in my personal lifetime. Mitchell is an explosive scorer, Allen and Mobley are elite rim protectors/defensive presence with Mobley having even more to offer outside of that, Garland is an up and coming talent who is already an all star. This team should be 2nd round to conf finals talent soon, if not now. Cavs aren't signing any free agent and they'd even have a hard time trading for a superstar with how much power they have over trades now... Cavs did well imo
