If we leave them alone, they will become 0 countries, I.E. the newest Russian Oblast. If they wanted that, I'd be happy for them. The vast majority of ethnic Ukrainians abhor that idea. It's nothing like Vietnam because there is no civil war. You just have a bunch of Russians imported to the extreme Eastern half of the country 80 years ago trying to force all Ukrainians to become Russians, and a bunch of Russians trying to re-constitute a lost empire. If you can convince the Russians to leave, I'm totally cool with leaving too. Let me know when you get that done, and we can hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
Europe lost their voice when they decided on their idiotic version of the Green New Deal. Russia holds the cards for the foreseeable future. The fact that the American military is already budgeting defense dollars for the next decade towards Ukraine should tell you something. Shortly after Trump took office, those in the MIC started noticing Military acquisition and procurement started switching from DS Tan to OD Green, with most of it being OD Green in the last year or two. Everyone in this thread is armchair quarterbacking this whole discussion and really knows nothing on what is going on, including myself. This is the equivalency of the Terra Luna scammers dumping their bags on the retailers who were busying scouring reddit forums thinking they hit pay-dirt. @Ottomaton businessinsider "Secret NATO" document is not a secret. Its propaganda for ignorant retailers who think they have some inside scoop that is going to earn them 20% yield. The reality is nobody wants war. Not Russia. Not the US. Not Europe. Not China. Not anyone. The only people dying are those in that 3rd world country and Russias poorest young men. No country is going to send a military force into that 3rd world country to drive out the Russians and Russia knows this. The Russian people have a very high thresh hold for pain ... unlike Americans. Until Europe finds a solid replacement for Russian energy, this conflict will continue.
At this point, I doubt any Russian capitulation will fix the embargo situation in Europe for the next 6 months. Gas shortages sticky. Inflation sticky. Everyone has doubled down and are pot committed. Hold onto your butts.
For someone who admits they have no idea of what's going on, you have a lot of strong opinions on everything about it.
To be fair, if all news is compromised during war, then it's extremely difficult to tease out sources of truth or take in analysis with any meaningful grains of salt. Voicing and debating what you've collected is still a means to parse that info rather than regurgitating Facts from sources with obvious and well known biases.
I guess we shouldn't vote for Republicans in November if we want to rectify this problem, they do not only have a leadership riven with pro-Russia dipshits like Matt Gaetz and Ron Johnson, but they are monolithic against new government spending, unless you love inflation. @basso
Oh dear. According to "legitimate" Russian media, Ukranians are kidnapping retired old ladies and hypnotizing them into commiting crimes. Real Manchurian Candidate **** going on in Ukraine: Translation: The car arsonist of the deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces was kidnapped and hypnotized by the Ukrainians. The woman who set fire to the official's BMW was 65-year-old pensioner Elena. Her son-in-law believes that she was recruited by the Ukrainian special services, who taught her how to set fire to cars. ---------- Here is the cover story being perpetrated by the complicit western media counter-revolutionaries: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...MW-faces-jail-special-military-operation.html
I don't see where we'd ever use the howitzers. Wars now are drones, cruse missiles, air support (jdam etc). Once they are crippled, bring in the ground troops with tank support.
It went from DS Tan to OD Green because our priorities shifted. While we were fighting terrorists, China and Russia were rapidly modernizing their militaries. It would be naive to not pivot. Pretty sure Russia wants war…. and is Ukraine really a third world country?
Russia is not a modern military at all......they are very stuck in 1950.....China may have some modern stuff, but they really don't have high tech stuff for the most part either. DD
Guys if you disregard 20 years worth of @basso posts on Iraq and foreign policy in general - you'll realize he's got a pretty good record in analyzing this stuff.
You know things are going bad for Russia when Tucker Carlovich goes back to the ol "no no putin is actually winning" routine @basso @Os Trigonum @tinman For the record i just want to point out what kind of idiot you'd have to be believe this - from the freeze frame ( I wouldn't inflict actually watching the MAGA Jugend Power Hour on anyone) - the sole data point is ruble/euro value - lol so what? You'd have to be a @MojoMan / @Commodore level moron to actually believe that. Here's the deal - if you become an economic outlaw and impose strict capital controls punishable by death, and spend all of your foreign reserves you can indeed protect the value of your currency for awhile. Of course you also can't use those reserves to buy weapons or supplies or technology to keep from getting your ass beat in a war and you didn't use those reserves to build a functional modern economy instead you skimmed them off the top of a Trump family style kakistocracy that is good at punishing its own people and not much else, aka the Diktator Orban model. But, it makes a nice easy graph for Tucker and his audience all @AroundTheWorld.
