Does anyone else have magazines that come to them that you don't even remember subscribing to anymore?

It seems like I've been getting Maxim forever, and I must've signed up for something like a ten year subscription, but I made the conscious decision not to resubscribe at some point (well over a year ago), but the things keep showing up month after month without fail.

The subscription label says my subscription will run out in September of 2005, but I don't know whether to trust it or not.

And then I have magazines I thought I was supposed to be getting that never come. And when I check on my subscription, they'll say it's expired.

So I get magazines I don't want every month and don't get the magazines I do want.

On top of that, I get a bunch of free magazines that have to do with my "industry". I don't even understand some of them, but I figure they must have exciting information with cover stories like this one: "The new ARQ931 boasts the discs per target for DVD Silver Slloy to 1 million and beyond and thus reduces considerably the costs per disc and the downtime for mask/targer changes. A new milestone in DVD replication."

I will be getting Maxim, Stuff, and FHM for frewell until 2010.

They're just aching to give those away. After actually attempting to read the material in my first issues last year, I understand why...

    Talk about crap.

Like all periodicals, most of the income for magazines comes from advertising. The more they can increase their readership, the more they can charge for ads. Hence, givin' 'em away.

Mrs JB and I once subscribed to Newsweek. We decided about 3 months in we didn't want it any longer, but we paid up for a year. We ended up getting the thing for something like 3 years before they finally stopped sending it. We never paid for the other two years and they never asked for any money.

I'm getting Maxim and Stuff for the foreseeable future. I did the free subscription thingy awhile back that a member here told us about. The only problem, and I really don't want to sound ungrateful, is that the 2 magazines suck! They also don't come wrapped like Playboy does, a much better 'zine. I'm constantly having to ensure they don't see them, which is a pain. I keep meaning to cancel the suckers. From the sound of it, that may not be easy! :p

I get GolfWorld free, yet I only play golf once every two months.

I get Scuba Diving magazine for free also.

I asked for neither of them.

Also, I stopped subscribing to Details when they changed formats yet they kept sending it to me. Took 3 years before it stopped coming.

One of them does; I think it's FHM, but it's wrapped only when there's a CD or whatever.

You can check when your subscription runs out and change address here: https://subs.maximonline.com/pcd/egate?igate=MDgxNUIxMDY3

Does anyone know of any other links for free mags?

At one point I had subscribed to Forbes, then forgot that I did it or something & subscribed again in an overlaping period. I guess it must've happend to them before, because every month thereafter I recieved 1 copy of Forbes (American Edition) and 1 copy of Forbes (International Edition) for the remainder of the period.

Maybe your wife or girlfriend has a secret desire you don’t know about. That Playboy and Hustler subscription that you have been receiving, without purchasing, could be your first clue.

I get Maxim for free, which I really don't care for. And I subscribe to a couple of magazines though KLM/North West Airlines frequent flier miles. I have around 55,000 miles and thought I might as well use some of them. I get PC Gamer, and PSM with my frequent flyer miles.

I have a year subscription to News Week, which I thought I would enjoy, but so far I really haven't. I miss my $20 for 6 months subscription to the Houston Chronicle.

Danm, I am going to be getting Maxim till October 2005, that's crazy. Maxim: "Our records show that this order originated from the JMJ MARKETING. Our records show that your account is paid in full and will expire with the ISS#10 2005 issue." JMJ must of been the free place, I used some link that was posted here like a year back.
