Spotrac lists Mancini's FA value at $20.5M AAV. It will likely take more to get him unless they are way off base. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/
I need assurances he's gone. Imagine the players he refuses to play while inferior players find a way into the line-up every day and in the top of the order. It's infuriating.
Astros swept a team fighting for the playoffs right? Can't tell with all the Dusty b****ing and the same posters circle jerking each other every time one of them insults an old man by calling him Dumbo, Rusty, Crusty, etc.
The only issue is his defensive shortcomings (unless he is for sure this team's everyday first baseman). Hopefully he has a productive playoffs... where the bond could definitely be cemented. That is Houston's best advantage over other teams. Gives guys a chance to play on the biggest stage year after year where players become household names with playoff success.
Yes we do. It all boils down to whether he gets the most from his players and lineup while following the strategic plan of a World Series WIN or the team he has is so good he can't spoil it no matter how much he tries. You have correctly pegged MY OPINION. I would much prefer Maldy to move to Manager to get him out of the line-up and ()usty out of the dugout.
Coming into this series did they not have a fighting chance at a playoff spot? Going 0-6 against the Astros this year definitely hurt their chances. Do you feel good about yourself for acting like a child and insulting a respected man around the league? Aren't you old enough to be Dusty's father, if not great grandfather? Grow up.
It's gotten pretty damn tiresome, making some threads borderline unreadable. I expect stuff like this from the GARMites, but not in this subforum. You'd think people would get tired of posting the same thing over, and over, and over, and over again.
Seriously, in a game Mancini and Vasquez started. Javier gets skipped in an organizational choice for completely logical reasons..."Dusty you dumbass" Dusty this, Dusty that, I have a pretty low opinion of Dusty but jesus f**king christ. Every damn game no matter who starts or what moves he makes.
I think it's safe to say this Mancini trade is working out. At the time some viewed it as a consolation prize for missing out on Josh Bell. Bell was an overpay and he's been pretty crappy with San Diego since he got traded there.
YES! He should not have been forced on us by the commissioner and Crane. He should be enjoying retirement, not mismanaging yet another great team to playoff losses.
Vazquez last contract was 3 year 13.5 million, coming only a year after being a pivotal part of their world series winning team. That's "really cheap".
Mancini 16 RBIs in 18 starts, but still sitting the pine in nearly 33% of Astros games. And he's only getting that many opportunities because of injuries to Diaz and now McCormick. Meanwhile, Gurriel (who by critical metrics isn't nearly the defensive player Mancini is at first base, mind you) has 37 RBIs in 114 games. Mancini projects out to right at 100 RBIs with that many opportunities. Look if it were a slight variance then yeah allowing Gurriel to keep manning first base would be somewhat understandable. But this is an abomination and grotesque. Gurriel isn't going to turn his season around all of a sudden. This is the fading end of career version we are dealing with. And Dusty is gonna go down with the ship with Gurriel being his boat captain steering right into the side of that glacier.
