It all started when he fouled that ball off his knee. He never stopped hitting the ball hard, but his launch angle is not what it used to be. Ground balls and line drives to the outfield. I thought at the time that his weight shift during his swing was affected - that he wasn't getting that smooth transfer from the back foot through the front foot, if I'm saying that right. But maybe I was just thinking I saw that because I was looking for something to see- first out of fear that he was hurt, then because of the disappearance of the majestic home run drives.

Great series! I'm so glad we got Mancini, hope he will stay here long term.

Javier absorbing all the bad luck with his 7-8 record with a 2.88 ERA on a 100 win team.

I wouldn't want to stay on a team in which my manager thinks I should only play 60% of the time even though I'm killing it. He'd have to get assurances that Baker is a goner.

Vasquez is definitely not re-signing with us and that's a damn shame, we could have gotten a great hitting catcher for the next 3 years for really cheap. Dusty really screwing up the works with these 2 guys.

Either Dusty wins the WS and he retires, or he doesn't and his contract expires.

Against a quality team, no less (A's).

Hope they don't get their momentum back if they crush this series.

    Maldonado 3-26 .115

    Since becoming an Astro
    Vasquez 11-32 .344

Maldonado continues to catch games at an 80% clip even though he's returned to being a near automatic out.

Valdez leads all starters with fewest HR/9 IP at a rate of .404, next best is .458 (Alcantara).

I'll take ANY sacrifice for Justin Verlander to get to 300. If he can do that (and we all know he wants to), I think he'll be the very last to do so.

Mancini with another HR that probably doesn't get out in Baltimore.

I really hope we are able to bring him back because I think he will easily be good for another 5-10 HR playing a full season at MMP. OPS could be in the mid to high 800s., and he could probably be locked in at a very reasonable rate by today's standards.

I can't argue with anything you said, still hoping though.

I never got the hype for him ever. I think he is himself. At least try not swinging at bad pitches if your shoulder is shot...

I completely agree. Ideally, we sign him for 3 years/$48M or so. Great value for both sides. Plus he seems to have really fit in with the clubhouse well.
