On this I agree with you. And his stats in an inferior league weren't that great either. 9.4 pts while playing 18 mins....13 mins in the 4 playoff games. Does he have the stamina of a geriatric man? We will have to build up his endurance like we did Capela.....which took about 3 years. In his highlights it's mostly just points in transition. Not much in the half court.
Speaking of dodging a bullet... Experienced guard Sergio Llull will not represent Spain in the remaining international fixtures of the offseason, including the 2022 EuroBasket. A minor injury confirmed following the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers Group L opener versus Iceland forced him out of the list of available players, as announced by the Spanish Basketball Federation Thursday. – via EuroHoops.net Maybe IDIOT?
That tough for Chet. That news is kind of a bummer. And I’m not even an OKC fan. But I do feel bad for Chet and the OKC fans. I’m only glad it wasn’t a situation where Chet was on the Rockets roster. Because I could only imagine the gut punch of a feeling it would be. We all knew or at least suspected that the Rocket were going to draft one of Bachero, Chet, or Smith.
Folks thinking this chet injury will dissuade teams from drafting wembanyama r delusional. Gotta swing for the fences or bite the bullet on a talent like wemby regardless of injury concern. U either gonna look like a God or a clown. The jury is still out on if presti is a clown or God for drafting chet. Man is Uber young and he can come back better than ever
Lisfranc tear is the worse case scenario for Chet. The biggest issue isn't just the fact that this can impair his ability to put on weight, but he physically wouldn't be allowed to weight train for a while until he fully recovers. He might miss a whole season just for recovery, but OKC may contemplate withholding him for even longer so they can actually focus on developing his frame.
And I thought this guy was the steal of the draft and the Rockets should have drafted him! HOLY $HIT!!!
Wonder if they will trade him for Porter & Garuba. => joking…. sad to see anyone start off their career like this. Hopefully he heals well and is paired with even more top talent. Maybe a blessing long term as the Thunder get worse and they were already bad this netting them a higher draft choice.
Yikes that sucks. Taking a big so high is always an injury risk even without a prior history. He could come back and be fine who knows but that definitely is a dark cloud when so many were worried about his durability to being with. Glad we dodged that bullet and the Thunder took him.
The situations are a little different. In the last draft, we had three bigs with very even overall predicted values. Each guy had great potential but also some serious concerns. (One of Chet's biggest concerns was injury risk.) How you chose depended on how you prioritized the concerns and the strengths. This coming draft, only two guys are clearly above everyone. And those two guys have very little in common.
