As much as I love bad news for OKC, this is a feelsbad moment.
Hope this isn't starting a trend for him

He really got hurt by being on the floor in a pickup game. These 7ft stick figures just arent built to play sports at this level of intensity. With all due respect, they probably arent even healthy for normal human being standards. I would be very cautious about drafting wembanyama too and having to worry every time he goes out

I hope Chet will be okay and have a great career. He should be an exciting player if healthy.

That said, I remember that a lot of pro-Chet people dismissed the risk, citing that he had no injury history so far. I've always felt that being lucky to have avoided serious injuries does not make him defy physics. The risk is always there. Both too skinny and too heavy aren't good for the game of high level basketball.

If it’s ligament damage to his ankle and not bottom of foot he’ll be fine. Need to see what it actually is first. One injury doesn’t make him injury prone.
When you’ve had multiple like Wemby, that’s a problem.

If Lebron could do that to him, Giannis would've sent Chet into a coffin. Silver lining is he can spend his rookie year getting into NBA shape (with the help of PED and top tier trainers/nutrionists.) Injuries sucks and we all know about how it's like when your franchise big has foot injuries. I will never wish injuries on a player, but this was the reason why people were against drafting Chet. With that being said, the nicknames for Chet are pretty hilarious. Chet at Home Again is up there with Anthony Day to Davis haha. Get well soon big fella

lower leg injuries are rarely good for guys as tall as he is. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

yet people think Wemby will be just fine, and he’s already had multiple injuries

Yeah, Wemby has similar body type. I think he looks a little but thicker than Chet, but not sure. The risk is definitely there too.

And this was my biggest fear of this dude from the jump. Dude hasn’t even officially stepped on an NBA floor yet and he’s already getting surgery. Hopefully it isn’t to bad but I see many more in his future if he doesn’t add some weight soon

I don’t understand why, I believe Porzingis didnt have any injuries or at least any major ones before getting drafted either, same with guys like Yao and Ralph Sampson. When you have a player that’s that tall and talented you have to account for injuries at some point but guys like that are doing to much for there size. It’s not normal being 7 foot and sizing guys up on the perimeter, even KD has had injuries that has sidelined him for at least a year

I actually sort of prefer Scoot of Wenby for that reason. Though I can’t deny Wemby’s potential if he does break the mold

Yeah im thinking a center more like Jalen Duran (obviously not available now) or Dereck Lively would be ideal. Then Dariq Whitehead/Scoot Henderson if they decide to draft another guard

OKC did Houston a solid drafting Chet at 2. Stone really lucked out.

I think OKC would still rather have Holmgren over Jabari, just based on potential.

Ultimately this is dependent on the prognosis, but his injury could have happened before the draft, and if it turns out the injury involves multiple ligament tears, I don't think OKC would stick with Chet.

Multiple ligaments doesn’t sound good. If it was just a ligament I’d be less concerned.

Yeah, and its not even a strong collision tbh Lebron barely felt a thing. That wouldn't even be a call in the NBA imo. Chet is honestly making me leery of Wemby it's just not a good sign when you get multiple injuries before you even play in the NBA.
