The amount of rain I've gotten is just incredible in such a short timeframe. It was just downpouring for several hours throughout yesterday and the night. Most rain I've seen outside of Hurricane Alicia.

My area finally started getting some rain around 1am and it really hasn't stopped since. A weather station around here is reporting a bit over 2 inches of rain. I'm not going to complain since we've gotten so little in the past 3 months. I like how we went from being in a drought to having the 2nd wettest August in history in 24 hours. Crazy.

That's hella amount of rain, in any other region, it would result in major flooding. Hope folks can stay above the water.

There was some crazy flooding in various parts of DFW as a result of the rain. Subdivisions, feeder roads, etc. were basically turned into rivers. There aren't many places that are going to get over 9" of rain in a 24 hour period and not flood badly. And holy cow, I just saw JR's post stating that SE Dallas got over 15" of rain... that's nuts.

I'm glad my area didn't get anywhere near that much...

I'm sitting on the porch watching more slow soaking rain, which is exactly what we've needed. Zero runoff.

Got a bit more rain today, and I'm still thankful. At least the weather is cooling now and hopefully we can get more "normalized" precipitation in the next few months. But around here that probably just means "hail season #2" of the year, as usual.

Where is all this severe weather we were supposed to have today? I saw some sprinkles for about 10 minutes earlier but that is it. They totally overhyped today's forecast.

Exactly. I thought it was going to be some flooding and slow traffic with early commute. The local weather guys always hype these things up. Not a drop of rain today.

My yard has made a hell of a recovery compared to a month ago.

    It's a beautiful thing.

I've had my sprinkler system off since July and haven't had to fill the pool since then either. I'm actually looking forward to seeing my water bill this month instead of dreading it like in May, June and July.

Also, it's currently pouring in Kingwood.

I learned one thing over the last ten days or so. That is weather forecasting is still a pretty inaccurate science when it comes to predicting rain and rainfall amounts.

Right lol, I had a window on the radar to cut my yard. I did it as fast as I could, rain didn’t hit my house after.
Still says we’re getting rain for the next week. Hopefully we do, but not too much.
