It would be sweet to have this deal go through. Here comes some more antisipation. (Sp)

What happend to Snow? I remember hearing the Rockets were interested in Eric Snow.

Upside: Obviously, a shooter helps. Offensively, a very nice complemt to what we have. Best news is that it's a departure from a JVG player ( unless, as SJC has suggested, they're after him as a SG) and a team built around Yao and T-Mac shouldn't be a slow down grind it out bunch.

Downside: If he's our point, we're gonna just get killed by about 80-90% of the starting points in the league. Barry is a bad defender against shooting guards; against points he's awful. Remember the lakers this year, early on, and how they gor burned night in and night out by quick points? If Barry's our point, get used to it. If SJC is right, it's much better.

I read quite a few, but NOT 199, so can someone tell me if this has been confirmed/denied, and what the state of progress is known to be?

    Thanks.

there is chance that we haven't committed to it yet. If after other teams squandered their cap space and MLE on other FA's, we may be able to offer a smaller contract (or a 4th year team option) and still get Barry.

he's 6'6" which means he won't be able to defend point guards. put mcgrady on the other team's point guard? sorry, but that's ridiculous...tmac is like 6'8" and u don't want him to expend all his energy chasing a point guard. derek fisher or alston would have been nice, imo.

    I did. :D

Barry would be a great pickup for the team, but at a lesser value and still a great PG would be Fisher. But if we get Barry, more power to us and to the team!

Again, this is way off topic, but I want to have some fun with this... where the HELL is the infamous Rockets hater, Memphis X or whatever the hell HER name was. I haven't seen that homo posting her dumbass comments lately! What's wrong redneck X, don't you have the balls to come out and bash out team anymore. Oh wait, that's right... the Spurs tore Memphis a new a$$ in the playoffs... they were knocked out in the first round too. I guess the Grizzlies weren't any better afterall.

NEWSFLASH Memphis X, the Rockets are going to dominate your teddy bear team from this day forward. Last year was a fluke... I hope you enjoyed it!

CF.net members, I have no clue how to start a brand new thread. I need your help. This is my plan... I want a thread to open (just like you see on the left side of CF.net homepage) that says something like"Where is Memphis X now?" And then we can all take turns bashing the dumbass! Sounds like a hell of a way to kick of the 4th of July weekend!!

So let me get the right - Les is turning into Mark Cuban-lite, and everyone is complaining that he is giving out too much money?

If we sign Barry. One thing is for sure. The press, fans and coaches will be demanding one thing from him: DEFENSE. I can just imagine the press conference...

Chronicle Reporter: "Do you plan on playing defense?"
Barry: "I'll give it my best try..." :)
(interrupted) JVG: "Yes he will!"

I mean, this should be a central issue in terms of his play on the Rox. We all know about his shooting and passing. But he's not known for defense. Lets change that. Pressure him.

Hell, if JVG can change Cat's defense. He can change Barry's defense.

    :)

For the most part, I agree with you, but didn't Cat come out of Rhode Island with the reputation of a defensive specialist?

Or were you referring to how JVG helped him improve his shot selection?

I am interested to see what the Rockets think of Reece Gaines and what we do with Piatkowski if we pick up Barry. I am hoping they can package Piatkowski, Witherspoon and the trade exception to get a Jerome Williams, or Dale Davis type player. As long as their big deals expire in the next couple of years, we are sweet. Fun off-season

Cat became lazy on defense under Rudy. JVG woke him up. As far as his defensive reputation at RI. Not sure. But he didn't play D in Houston until JVG became coach.

Good one! I can't think of anything that gave up more easy baskets for our opponents than Cat's shot selection two years ago.

Agreed. As perfect as Barry would be for this team on offense is as terrible he would be on defense.

I think the ideal situation is to find a defensive minded guard to start in the backcourt with Barry and guard the opposing teams point guard. Someone similar to Juaquin Hawkins. A good defender that has the quickness to guard opposing point guards. Not a bad shooter (shoots 41% from 3-point land) and he’s got the height (6’7) to play the 3.

    Yao
    Howard/Taylor
    Mcgrady/Boki
    Hawkins/JJ
    Barry/Lue

We lose offense by sending JJ to the bench, but do we really need that much firepower in the starting lineup. Doesn’t seem like there are enough shots to go around.

I still hope rockets can give a contract to Fisher. He is really a good player and actor. Especialy rockets need his 0.4 second lucky.
