I think my dislike for the Braves has doubled in the last 3 days. Still not quite in Yankee / Dodger territory, but closing the gap.
Another head scratcher batting Dubon first. If you are going to experiment at least do it in a way that might actually be in play in the post season. I’m fine with resting players with a 10.5 lead in late August, just don’t understand why it can’t be done more strategically, other than Dusty not being very good at lineup construction or preparing for the post-season.
I don’t recall anyone here talking about the Braves when the Yankees were 52-18, the best team in baseball and we were kicking their asses along with the Mets. Now that the Braves are hot the goal posts have moved. Teams get hot, it happens but on this board the Astros have to take down the hottest team in baseball every single time no matter who we have available or what pitcher we face or we’re trash. I’m not rationalizing losing as much as trying to understand knee-jerk.
Dusty/Musty/Crusty believes in Fragile Player Syndrome if you move them in the Batting Order. Therefore just put weak hitters anywhere at all because there is no strategy involved aggregating the best hitters which is more important than a stable spot in the line-up. So Dubon Gurriel AGAIN!
If the playoffs started tomorrow we’d be screwed. But I guess that’s the blessing and curse of a 162 game season. From day 1 of this season it was apparent that our pitching would have to carry us through the World Series. Now it looks like our relief pitching has lost its mojo. Once again the blessing and curse of 162 games. I’m just hopeful and optimistic everything will start clicking come September and October. If we roll into the postseason hot, nobody can stop us. On the flip side….
NL is going to be a battle with the Braves, Mets, and Dodgers AL is weak Astros are 1st in the AL somehow but would clearly be the 4th best team in the NL
Thank our lord and savior Jesus Christ @Squirtle Spoiler Now only if he could help us win a game/beat the Braves. ATLANTA — Vaughn Grissom’s fifth-inning foul ball Friday felt like a sign for Yordan Alvarez. He started to feel funny three frames earlier, but presumed he could play through the shortness of breath. With two outs and two on, Grissom fouled a ball off his foot and required a minute to walk it off. “I think it was a sign from God that there was a foul ball at the time,” Alvarez said through an interpreter, “so it was a good time to take myself out.” Alvarez sprinted to the dugout and set in motion a chaotic 48 hours. “At first I was super nervous to go to the hospital, but before we even left and I came in (to the clubhouse), I was starting to feel better and breathe better,” Alvarez said Sunday. “By the time we got to the hospital, I was feeling fine. When the results came back all clear, I felt really good.” Alvarez said he is still unsure what caused his medical episode and had never before experienced shortness of breath. He said he did “the same routine as always” before Friday’s game, but began to feel uneasy in the second inning. “About the second inning, I kind of started to feel a bit hot,” Alvarez said. “My body started to heat up a little bit. Then, in that (fifth) inning, I started to feel a little bit odd.” “My body was just kind of feeling odd,” Alvarez said. “I had two options: ask for help or stay there and kind of try to fight through it. I can’t say exactly what it was, I was just feeling odd.” https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...z-sign-from-God-shortness-breath-17387964.php
I still feel pretty confident against most other teams, but I want no part of the Braves. And that pisses me off so much that they have our number. 2 ****ing years in 04/05 and outside of that we might as well forfeit when we play them.
