How can anything, a team that's ~checks standings~ 34 games over 500 and has the best record in the AL be a kick in the nuts. Mancini played and Diaz is hurt, so who should have played 1st base? Its like people have to invent ways to b**** about Gurriel these days its almost as bad as the daily b****ing about Dusty. I can justify it because of defense and there being no other guy who was much better available.
Just because its easy to "play" dos not mean anybody can play it at the level of Gurriel. He is especially important with Pena at SS because he has saved about 3 outs just in the last week from throws by him. You're continuing to **** on Gurriel after the hot streak he is on and after a 3 for 5 day is the real clown behavior.
Neither do dives and jump throws when someone like Adam Everett could make all of those balls in play look really routine.
I am. One tweak and it's perfect. But it's close as is. There's no better time to ride with Gurriel with his hottest week of the season 435 OBP in the 2 hole. Short streak - short leash. But a leash none-the-less.
