https://nba.2k.com/2k23/courtside-report/mynba This is insane!! Peep the TNT early 90s accurate presentation featuring the Rockets:
It's been several years since I played one of these games. Has the actual gameplay improved much, or is it just graphics enhancements and more of this kind of stuff (which is cool, don't get me wrong)?
Gameplay has improved for sure, I enjoyed 2k22 after not really enjoying anything since 2k15/16. Only passing is still very frustrating.
Someone switched up the roster. Buck was the starter only until 91, which was when Paxton was on the roster as a starter for the Bulls.
Johnson started the majority of games in 92. And 19 in 93 when BJ was the main Bulls starter. So that matchup could have happened.
Last time I played 2k, Joe Johnson was still in Brooklyn. I was cold tho…I was shooting 30+ threes a game way back in like 2k8
Haha, yes, I basically would shoot 3s like crazy. I started doing that way back too. I basically got to the point where I would only play online matches and only with Houston (good years/bad years but always Houston) and I'd have to play well enough just to keep it close or be down in the 1st quarter so they wouldn't quit, 2nd quarter I'd switch up with some lineups you'd never see in real life and just shoot 3s. The reason was because if they quit in 1st quarter you didn't get a win (I can't recall the year but it was early on either OG xbox or 360), it also seemed faster to play a quarter out than let them quit early/get no credit/have to find another match etc. There were games where I'd go on a 30-40 point swing in the 2nd after being down by 10-20 in the 1st... I'm definitely not a super star by any stretch, like if I found someone who could legit play I wouldn't do the whole trash play gimmick, because win/lose I really just enjoyed the close games/good competition. Tl;Dr - 3s were my go to too, even way back in NBA Jam... that's also the last time I played any basketball games too, Joe Johnson was with the Nets.
Do you know if it loads faster for online matches now? I mainly played ranked online, that's about the only way I'd probably play still, mainly for the competition. I'm sure I'm so rusty though that it'd take me forever to get anywhere with online. And yes, passing was usually trash, I know some years seemed a little better but it's always been a bit of a mess year/year. Glad to hear 2k22 was better for you!
I would absolutely murder dudes with the BD Warriors…I’d just run a BD-Monta-Barnes or Pietris-Jackson-Harrington lineup for most of the game and play fast and bomb threes…by end of the game I’d have double digit made threes and the other guy would have like 5 or 6 tops my Melo at the 4 with JR Smith and other shooters lineups would kill too
I recall playing Super Tecmo in 1995. Was good enough to play all the playoff games to match the actual game records. Wasn't easy. John Turner was a starter for the Rockets and the Magic didn't have anyone of import.
Oh man!! Every once in a while I'd select those BD Warriors, like if I'd get someone to rematch me and they wanted me to use a different team or they had picked rockets, I'd play with them occasionally or even come across a player that knew how to run those line ups, it was amazing. I do recall a few matches with some players who would play me with Melo/Smith lineup + shooters, I was always happy to see people do different lineups like that because you were either going to get an amazingly close/competitive game or possibly smoked but learn something in the process, making you better.
