The only part I really liked was when Jack Black was strapped to the tree, and the other actor talking about Lance.

I thought this movie was hilarious, and I had pretty high expectations when I saw it. My wife and I still quote bits of that film to each other. It wasn't deep or the funniest movie I've ever seem, but when it hit, it was awesome. Robert Downey Jr. should be considered for an Oscar.

    That's it?????

Wow...I know we all have our tastes, but to say those were the only two good parts of the movie amazes me.

Just saw this. Instantly one of my all-time favorites!

RDJ was so convincing that he wasn't funny unless you stop and think for a minute about what the heck is going on, then it's one of the funniest things ever.

I loved just about everything about it. Jack Black had me laughing the most I think. And I thought McConaughey was awesome in it (although I think his presence along w/Cruise should be a spoiler still).

This is another movie that I have never watched in full, it's one of those movies you have seen so many clips of, you don't ever prioritize because you have seen the best parts.

It's also amazing because RDJ never got a lot of flack for doing blackface, even in the "cancelling" era.

I am happy he did not.

Blackface is offensive because it's overt reinforcement of racial steryotypes with no greater purpose - "look at me, I'm black, I like to eat fried chicken and watermelon, lawdy, lawdy".

His blackface had a more nuanced motive, and was almost poking fun at the idea of blackface and identity.

I guess I understand why it could upset people, but I really hope people understood the difference. It was "blackface" but not with the overt denegration and cultural baggage associated with that term.

This movie is good but very overrated -- certainly not an all time classic comedy.

Yeah that was exactly it, a subversive look at blackface.

The woke and cancelled crowd did not care about any nuance, it was burn everything down that was even slightly "offensive".

That's why I did not get upset with the VA gov doing Michael Jackson he seemed to just be a fan of MJ.
