2022-23 Houston Rockets -- will they be over/under 24.5 wins?

What’s the win number for Silas to keep his job? Or do they just need to be competitive? I had fun watching the young guys but games were over by the half.

 

I said over, as I think development and improved defense (and improved coaching) will more than make up for Wood's departure. But if Gordon leaves, that's a bigger loss. It's a close call.

Also don't forget that our horrible start last year is unlikely to repeat itself... That was a key to the success of the tank.

 

This is a really tough call. I was hoping to bet the under at like 28.5 this year. I've bet the under and cashed the last two years on the rockets, but I think 24.5 is actually the perfect spot to put it. I definitely won't be betting the over but right now I'm debating between the under or staying away.

 

I think if they don't get to at least 30 wins, you look at cleaning house completely and you have to start to reevaluate the entire roster.

 

I'm going to be an optimist and say over!

 

I could see that with the staff though how competitive they are will play a factor. Most of the core roster is extremely young. I expect continued improvement but this isn’t a make or break season for anyone of substance beyond KPJ who mostly needs to prove maturity.

 

How they do in the first part of the season will be a big factor in whether the Rockets want to tank or win.

If the team shows promising progress out of the gate, they will try to win as much as they can. And that will likely get them to 30-win territory.

But if they are among the bottom teams by the all star break, management may want to chase the Wemby prize instead.

 

Less than 33 wins is disaster.

jalen and alpy will be better than gordon and wood were last year.

rookies rarely contribute to winning but jabari and Tari should improve our defense from day 1.

Hollins and Abdelfettah will actually provide some coaching and make us competitive every night.

all of that has to yield more than just 4 more wins.

 

I think they will get to 25 wins.

 

Under, they are just too young.

 

The Rockets will win 33 games this year. 45 next year. and then hit the playoffs in 2024 with the first of 10 consecutive 50 win seasons en route to a threepeat and multiple HOF careers.

 

So hard to judge. I think the over would be right if the Rockets don't tank. I don't trust how/who the Rockets will play with Green on the bench. I'll go over, but slightly as very good line.

 

Over. Because they will be better. Because enough teams tanking harder than Rox.

But not play-in possibility.

I think the Rockets mostly finish well, it all depends on how they start the season and the difficulty of schedule.

Inconsistencies are part of the equation.

They could end up with a 36 win season and it would not totally shock me because winning streaks do happen.

 

Under but barely. I'd be very pleasantly surprised at the development if they had more.
