4 years and $195m left on his deal - I don't think they trade him right away, they aren't going to give him away, and he is not worth a massive haul at 33 years old..... Funny how I didn't see KD offer to give up his contract he signed last year as a buyout? If i were the Nets I would tell him to play, while they try to trade him - which may or may not happen and if KD lolligags, sit and fine him....every day. DD
If KD was a free agent, plenty of teams would move heaven and earth to max him out, don't act like he's not worth his contract, it's a bargain
If he is healthy ......he is .....but will he be the same at 37 as he is now at 33? Maybe not. In the end, the point was that he hasn't offered to give up $$$ to move....no one could offer him a super max if he did that, but it would show he really wants out. DD
Well yes it is of course, but he is not saying.....I will forgo the contract I just signed to get out - he is basically like yeah yeah, so you paid me for 1.5 years while I recovered, and you still owe me 200m, but I want what I want anyway. Honestly, I hope Brooklyn says, nah, you play here, or nowhere.....and it ends up in a big fight.....all the better for us. DD
Yeah, I know, he won't give up any money. I hope the org plays hardball, what is KD gonna do? He signed for 4 more years..... DD
Brooklyn not moving fast enough for Durant's liking so he poured some fuel on the fire. He hangs out with Harden recently and Harden gives him some tips on forcing his way out of an organization. First step is to request a trade Next step is to look and play like you're in a decline Final step is to make a public statement that would make having you with the team very uncomfortable My guess is Durant is moved before training camp.
A very viable trade that the Sixers can frankly go for is a Harris + Maxey + fillers + picks for Durant + fillers. It'd frankly be as good a return as the Nets can hope for at this point, especially since Maxey is one of the best young prospects in the league at the moment. He's also young enough that by the time the Nets have control of their picks again, he would only be 26. Something like Durant and Curry for Maxey, Harris, Thybulle, Milton, Giang and picks isn't all that bad a return for Brooklyn.
You forgot the step where the destination team has a bunch of superstar wanna-be-managers who force their team to trade a franchise's future for you while trying to outbid a GM whose name you've helped build. Either way, nets are a mediocre product unless KD plays or brings in an exciting player w/ picks in a trade, so they can sell a narrative to their fans. I can see them seating KD for half a season if Tsai has deep pockets - maybe they get lucky and some star is disgruntled (eg LeBron wants out).
