Well I think it's fine for teens finding their voice and identity through counseling and support groups. I absolutely support them making that transition as adults. So I'm not discounting the deepness of identity some trans have. What I disagree is with that "lost time" for taking a position against minors undergoing hormonal therapy. It's also possible for their identity and personhood to shift while they finish adolescence and beyond in life. Hormone therapy is a powerful set of mood and body altering drugs with different side effects. There's definitely a line to draw where the cons outweigh the benefits, and I can't imagine a pubescent child going through this on top of everything else. Obviously a suicidal teen deserves a different context than a trans child grasping their identity without existing support institutions, but the point is whether we're approaching this without heaping expectations upon them. If it were such a slam dunk for all trans cases, then I don't think the more progressive European countries would set age limits for hormone therapy from 16 onward. 16 is a grey area where it's close to the American age of adulthood and honestly I don't know if that's too conservative or liberal an age. Your friend's son might be on the extreme end of the bell curve, but again I don't think all trans teens are. That's not my position isnt it? If I a 40 yr old man wanted to transition to a woman in California, then over time, I might even get aid from mediCal to do it. If I woke up and identified as asexual yet people are thinking in binary terms and are expecting me to be a woman, then that's a tougher problem to crack. Or if I had went through phases of gender assignment as a teen but didn't "feel whole" when I'm 22, then I'm not sure what I could do. The Science is not always proxy for Answers. We just hope the numbers add up. That's what I mean by expectations, our binary mindset for a subset of the population who doesn't necessarily identity with either.
Very dangerous precedent to set. This should concern everyone, no matter the party. Suspending an elected official for dereliction of duty based on politics? There were no untried cases reported. There is no florida case law regarding abortion currently. Suspending and removing a democratically elected official because of the possibility of prosecutorial discretion, which has not even occurred yet? Republicans would be up in arms (and rightfully so), if the roles were reversed.
He's pretty radical right. No surprise here. Not the first nor the last time he retaliates against those who don't agree with him. Just another Trump type with less supporters.
DeSantis is a Facist - he has no business in politics.... People shouldn't even consider him as he is a grandstanding facist. DD
Just checking in to see what Governor DeSantis has to say about yet another attempt by Trump to incite a violent insurrection within his own borders... So that he can commit espionage DeSantis slams FBI Must be why he has such crossover appeal.
He really does have the poise and appeal of a young Obama... DE SANTIS: You look at the raid at Mar-A-Lago and I'm just trying to, I'm trying to remember –maybe someone here can remind me – about when they did a search warrant at Hillary's house in Chappaqua when she had a rogue server and she was laundering classified information. I don't remember them doing that. I do remember them manufacturing a false conspiracy theory about Russia collusion. I remember that. That was not true. That was an abuse of power. I remember A lawyer for the FBI, got caught doctoring, an application for FISA surveillance against an innocent man. I remember the FBI at Merrick Garland's direction being sicced on parents going to school board meetings. .....If Obama was a Trumpist/Putinist b**** @AroundTheWorld
Trump is cool. Orban is cool. Putin is cool. Nonwhites and non Americans, and nonwhite Americans totally suck. - Ron DeSantis. ^ @AroundTheWorld ^
the only reason some conservatives are acting like they don't like trump is because the pile of **** is too high to keep pretending they don't smell it any more. they just need someone to push their racist, bigoted worldview and the theocratic/authoritarian rule many want. Trump was that person. Now it's Desantis. There will always be a shitstain for them to get behind who is willing to target as many people as they can for power.
" Not Ron DeSantis - he is still a stalwart Trump defender and in Putin's Orbit/an. @AroundTheWorld ^^^^
Don't you just love how the GOP breaks the law and gets caught and immediately claims being a victim? Matt Gaetz traffics in underage women and he is the victim. Trump steals top secret materials - he is the victim Graham interferes with a an election in a state he is not elected in....- claims he is the victim I mean the GOP takes ZERO responsibility about anything. The party of being a victim.....and doing nothing for the American people. DD
