Still thinking about my picks but thanks for creating a thread that is actually entertaining and thought provoking.
Big E is a Houston great. Big is a Rockets great. But cannot say Elvin Hayes is Houston Rockets great. Elvin Hayes only misses my list because he's a SAN DIEGO Rocket first and foremost.
Mine would be Yao, Clyde, Hakeem, and Harden. Calvin Murphy and Hayes are tough ones not to put on there. Rudy as well. But ultimately, I think Clyde's ring matters, Yao was just so special, and Harden was just so generational.
Where does 2-time league MVP, conference champion, 2-time All-NBA 1st teamer, and offensive rebounding king Moses Malone fit in here?
My mistake. I totally forgot. He's definitely an honorable mention and up there with Yao. But I go with Yao because his whole career was with Houston and he sacrificed his body for the team. Clyde for the rings. And Harden for being so good.
If "Mount Rushmore" means your favorite/greatest Rockets of all time : 1) Hakeem 2) Rudy T 3) Moses Malone 4) Yao Ming Pic shows 5 people so, if a 5th is needed, then Calvin Murphy or Gene Peterson would be my 5th. If "Mount Rushmore" means the 5 best players : 1) Hakeem 2) Moses Malone 3) James Harden 4) TMac If a fifth is needed : 5) Yao Ming
You do not have championships without dream. you do not have the second one without Clyde. the last two are yet to come.
Dream of course Calvin should be on everyone's list Rudy was a great player and coach Aaron Brooks because that is @MRS_KILLATRON2000's favorite player.
Dream Beard Yao Rudy T It covers the eras from the championship onward. Honorable mentions: Big E 4 yrs as a Houston Rocket (two different stints), 3 yrs as a San Diego Rocket, 12-time All Star, HOF Moses 5.5 yrs as a Houston Rocket, 13-time All Star, HOF …and let’s not forget Pete Chilcutt.
Dream, Moses and Rudy T are the locks.... from there, u have yer pick of Yao, TMac, Big E or Calvin... Harden can have a separate statue... the 'Opportunities Squandered Memorial'.... smh...
