I can't remember the last time I smoked a cigarette. It's been at least 20 years and probably more like 24. I probably smoked the most cigarettes when I was in high school and I used to smoke at home in my room for a brief period. My parents didn't necessarily like it but I was able to do it. During that time, I actually felt like I was getting addicted to nicotine as I was consuming an unhealthy amount of cigarettes per day (maybe 8 - 10). At that time when I felt an addiction coming on (like I literally would salivate for a cigarette), I made a decision to pretty much stop buying my own packs and quit. But, then when we went out partying, I had a few friends who smoked so I became that guy who drank and then bummed a few cigarettes from the full-time smoker. I don't think smoking friends minded because we would just be hanging out smoking and socializing...versus friend off smoking alone. I might bum 2 - 4 cigarettes in a night while partying in college. I did offer to give money over so they could put it towards a new pack...but they were usually just cool about it and didn't accept. My preferred brand was Marlboro Lights. At one time, I smoked the Marlboro Reds. Now, there's another type of "cigarette" of which I will have no comment other than it is much preferred over regular cigarettes for the purely scientific research.
