It will be interesting to see what happens. He seems like one of the least crazy and corrupt people among the crew. He seems like he's good at his job.

Imagine if Barack Obama or Bernie Sanders had led an angry, violent mob to ransack the Capitol.

They'd legit have to go into hiding or leave the country, and Democrats would have to disband the party.

Meanwhile, Republicans are just enjoying this memory hole and literally about to run the same f***ing candidate for President again who started the whole mess.

Conservatives in America enjoy an unprecedented benefit of the doubt, yet think they are hamstrung and persecuted in every walk of American political life.

I just watched an interesting documentary on Netflix called The Martha Mitchell Effect. Basically Martha Mitchell was the wife of the Attorney General under Nixon and she was the first to say that Watergate went all the way to Nixon. The Nixon admin and her husband then painted her a crazy alcoholic.
It's a little bit reminiscent of how the right is now trying to discredit Cassidy Hutchinson although not a sever as what they did to Martha Mitchell.

 

1/6 was the most on the silver platter moment the GOP would ever have to dump Trump while not completely losing his base and instead they doubled down, and we're seeing the consequences of it as the more moderate and sane GOP candidates keep losing primaries to extremists across this country. We'll see how that goes over in general elections

Yes, they definitely deserve the benefit of the doubt. I mean, Hillary did not deserve that benefit, but everything from the Trump admin was honest and truthful and forthcoming so it's really fair to assume that electronic records being destroyed had to have been for good, legitimate, honest reasons.

That's only part of the problem. The systemic part of the problem is that there are missing texts from different departments dealing with the January 6th coup attempt and a Trump appointed IG is apparently covering up what is missing, not allowing directives to go out to preserve the evidence and then not being forthcoming about much of it.

The difference is that Col. Jessup was goaded into telling the truth. It's Trump who can't handle the truth, because he has no conception of truth.

I wouldn't say I "took Durham seriously" but encouraged the investigation just to officially see how ridiculous it was. I definitely read all the findings, and the court filings.

As we have seen its been a dud, and nothing has come from it.
