I'll reiterate for the 50th time, regression to the mean. He's bound to resort back to being a very poor hitter in the very near future.

I know you understand this concept.

By the end of this month Vasquez needs to be catching more games than Maldy.

Vazquez needs to be catching for 3 of our 5 current starters and when playoffs start, he should be starting.

4 of 5*, I don’t want Maldy starting half our playoff games.

    Correct.

Maldy is used only for JV, because he wants it that way.

So 3 of the 4 playoff games essentially Vasquez is starting at catcher.

And the guy he platooned with, Sandy Leon, was even worse.

Good lord. Vasquez looked very disappointed in that press conference.

If he doesn’t start today, we won’t see him until, at the earliest, Friday since JV pitches tomorrow. If Dusty makes these guys sit 3 out of 5 games Click needs to step in. Of course, maybe the Stros really did just get him as a backup.

Relax, he’s already starting today’s afternoon game and I am sure Mancini will be in there too. It was an emotional day yesterday with their press conference being before the game, first time playing for a rival, etc. Dusty will play his shiny new toys but will get them acclimated first and will see where they fit in. I am sure both will be in the starting lineup a majority of the time soon enough.

Dusty Baker really wants to get in a Fight with James Click.

James Click wants Christian Vazquez to Play Catcher while Dusty wants Martin Maldonado

This will be the end for Dusty Baker because Dusty is really stubborn like Mike Dantoni and doesn't want to improve.

Joe Espada I think will be the New Manager Next Year Regardless.

James Click I think knows Dusty won't be a good Manager in the Postseason, maybe secretly wanting him to fail so it's easier to not extend him.

Dusty didn't seem so enthusiastic about the trades or paternity leave but I think Click values what Maldy does with the pitching staff. For me is trotting Myers out there with whatever ailment he has. It had to be the catch where he landed on that shoulder. Things have gotten worse from then.

I hope you’re right. I’m chilling for now. I do think Mancini will be everyday pretty soon. Velasquez I’m not that sure about. He is just an ok hitter and I think he was signed as an insurance back up catcher and emergency first base if both Brantley and Gurriel are struggling or injured.

Maldy is too damn old to be catching every day. I would not be surprised if Maldy is given more off days, his batting improves.

Except for all the griping about Dusty every regular season, people have raved about his post-season managing the last 2 years. Whether pure luck or not, he seemed to push all the right buttons, especially with the pitching staff.

    It's the Dichotomy of Dusty.

He's been outstanding in the postseason and you can't really say otherwise. Yet some of his regular season decisions are puzzling, to say the least.

I get it, he's managing for the long-haul. Not everybody does. And I swear that he is not totally in charge of rest days for players, teams have computer programs that determine optimum rest days, plus the input of the training staff. He is, however, in charge of the lineups on those rest days, hence the consternation.

It just gets the better of you sometimes.

You almost always regret it and wonder why you questioned your own judgement, they were being ignored for a reason.
