I appreciate their efforts to be internally consistent.

That sounds snarky, but I'm sure it will literally come up in some prosecution for an illegal abortion that they will show a fetus claimed on a tax form to prove that the mother knew and admitted the fetus had a fetal heartbeat before the abortion.

Hahaha, Supreme Court Justices owning the libs. What a time to be alive! And mocking Boris Johnson for being too liberal ... I don't know what to say.

Its still early but the referendum in Kansas to allow the legislature to ban abortion looks like its going to fail (and possibly lose on a solid margin). All of the early returns so far are exceeding expectations (and some urban counties haven't even reported yet). Even in the rural areas, the Yes vote is way behind. I guess eday votes might be dramatically different but so far this looks good

And this is Kansas of all places. Kansas has a state supreme court ruling that protects abortion rights so they require a constitutional amendment to ban abortion and right now it looks like abortion rights are on track to stick around there.

One last data point, the Kansas SoS is projecting that turnout will cross 50% which is incredible for a primary election in a midterm year. Basically, voting on abortion brought people to the polls.

CNN and CBS have said that the Kansas Amendment to strip protections for abortion has failed

How many audits will they need to do for that vote?

What's amazing is that the Kansas initiative was on a primary ballot. Not only that, but it was a primary with only Republicans. Democrats can't vote in Republican primaries. So any democrats that voted went to the polls only to vote on the abortion amendment.

In addition the wording was strange in that voting 'No' would mean preserving the right. Add to that one group was sending out texts saying a yes vote would preserve the rights for women to choose.

This may be an indication of how the abortion issue can drive turnout.

The wording isn't that unusual when it comes to Constitutional Amendments or popular referendums. That is a common tactic.

Still the turnout and the resounding result in the vote is a very clear indication that aboriton is an issue and is one that could be very strong for the Democrats.

US Senate primary, but I'm surprised how that was basically the only contested race on the Dem side.

Jean-Pierre says it was "unconstitutional" for SCOTUS to overturn Roe.
