Tobias in that scenario is acquired for the FRP the 76ers will send with him for the Rockets to take his contract. If the Rockets get a better player at 1/8 the cost, they won't get a future FRP for it. Jaylen Brown is a UDF in 2024. There is a decent chance the Rockets are going to look very attractive to guys like Brown in 2024. There is a good chance the Rockets take a bad contract like Tobias's with a future FRP to use up 2023 cap space, but preserve a max slot in 2024.
Nope never said that. Plan is and always has been three years of tanking. Aligns with our pick rights and cap space.
Rockets have massive cap space to sign FA in 2023. The problem is that the the 2023 FA class is not much to write home about. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/news/houston-free-agency-lebron-james-rafael-stone Another Ryan Anderson type FA signing would be disastrous.
Don't forget that they can use that ca space in a trade just as easily as they can an outright signing.
How much faith do you have in Stone identifying the right guy to trade for? Wall and Dipo trades concerned me NGL.
Wall was the only trade out there for Westbrook .... at least he recouped a #1 pick out of that disaster. The Lakers are stuck with him .... and its comical. Dipo was throwing shiit at the wall to see if it would stick .... had it worked out he'd have gotten more assets out of that than the alternative - it didn't, and it was guaranteed that he would turn down that extension offer thinking he would get a bigger payday in the offseason - I bet he regrets that in hindsight but you can't predict injuries.
I think the horizon for the rebuild is going to be the EG contract and then the 2023 draft. Free agency next summer is going to be what tells the tale though. I was for a time very interested in pushing that back a summer by acquiring the Tobias Harris contract to occupy the space before making a full court press pitch to Jaylen Brown. However, I foresee a likely scenario where Kawhi and PG opt out, the Clips sign Jaylen and then use bird right on Leonard and George.
I do not think we will try to tank like the last years. I hope we will play our best and win close to 35 games and still get a lottery pick. I would trade Gordon at the trade deadline for a 1st and use that 1st to get in the top 10 draft picks. Then we should be ready to go.
Eric has been an integral part of the future for as long as I can think. Young, fun living dude at heart.
He is probably right. Having identified Luka as the clear numero Uno Cuban is still searching for another star player.
We need a full size big. Walker Kessler is my first choice because his skill set & fit with Smith. As a second unit behind Sengun and shooters. We need to move Garuba and at least one other player. Maybe Jazz will listen if we put Martin with him. If not him than Christopher because we can’t keep him Porter & TyTy long term. We past on Queen because of amount of players already have here. AND Eric Gordon. We can / should do a multiplayer for Kessler. Jazz get a jump start on their rebuild while we start to fit players around our talent that give us different looks and ways to play.
Probably would need to include Gary Bird as well. If they are losing a white guy they are going to need one back. They have a quota i believe.
i dunno if wembymama is the answer. he’s another chet lite. time for this team to make the play-in this year and make some noise
You're right, you cant predict injuries. But Dipo was already injured/rehabbing from bad injury when Rafell traded for him.
Hearing Tate is working on his 3 all summer. Will it be Ben Simmons off-season shooting or actually transfer to the real games? Be great if he can improve that aspect of his game. Eric Gordon ability to shoot 3's and create spacing was a big reason for the stats. Just my humble opinion.
