I have to assume that Click has some reason to expect Brantley to return in good shape. Otherwise more would have happened today.
Like why the **** would you say “we definitely aren’t done yet” I thought we made the safe plays so we had some leverage to wait on the big ones. And we didn’t do ****. Lame.
Imagine thinking we did nothing but upgrade two roster spots and moved Meyers to the 9th hole. Crazy.
They need to play defense. It’s up to Tucker, Yuli, Bregman, Peña to be our offensive weapons. They need to step up
Vasquez helps if he gets the lions share at C. Do you think he sniffs that? Mancini is an OK get. Nothing that drastically moves the needle. Hell even in his press conference he acknowledges that he is ok coming off the bench pretty hard. Point me to the last bench player that took a team from middle of the road offensively to WS favorites.
I'm happy with the moves, and three areas of need were addressed here. The offensive lineup is deeper and more dangerous than it was before, and there's fewer holes, which is great. They have more flexibility at key positions and for the first time in a long time, catcher is no longer a black hole in the 9 spot every night. That being said, the lack of center field depth is a real concern. Meyers just doesn't have it this season and is clearly banged up, so you're going to have to rely on Chas a ton in big moments down the stretch and in the playoffs. I'm hoping one of them steps up, but I would have liked to see more done to add more consistency to the position.
Damn. Making moves/the WS in 2021 and having the second best record in the AL for 2022 is 0-2? I mean, it’s ok to admit not knowing anything about the org but damn.
You’re assuming Yuli and Bregman return to form, Brantley comes back and hits well, Chas improves, Tucker snaps out of his slump and doesn’t go on another prolonged slump, and Vasquez plays a lot (he won’t) among other things to consider this a huge upgrade.
