A guy like Michael Taylor might be a decent bridge to Gilbert/Leon/Barber if they willing to roll with Meyers and McCormick. KC is weird too, so they might be able to get a deal.
So what was the equivalent prospect trade for us to get Soto and bell? 1,3, 14? Is that Hunter Brown, Pedro Leon, and maybe Diaz?
Lol I dont think we have an equivalent. Thats a huge haul for the Nats, lots of risk but just based on prospect hype its huge
Any interest in Hosmer? He is about to be available for a very good price. Myers is going to be given away.
Gave away Josh Bell for free, took back Hosmer’s contract … LOL 8 years/$144M (2018-25) signed by San Diego as a free agent 2/18 $5M signing bonus 18:$20M, 19:$20M, 20:$20M, 21:$20M, 22:$20M, 23:$13M, 24:$13M, 25:$13M Hosmer may opt out of contract after 2022 season full no-trade protection from 2018 to 2020, limited no-trade protection thereafter allowing Hosmer to block deals to 10 clubs (earns 10-and-5 rights after 2022) at signing, largest contract in Padres history
Whoa, that contract is crazy for his current production. Seems to be player options for the next 3 years at $13 mil per? I wonder if Nats will look to dump him too somehow. If not for the contract, Astros should be interested.
Gore was a consensus top 10 overall prospect last year. CJ Abrams was in that range this year Robert Hassell is ranked 21 overall right now James Wood is ranked 88 Jarlin Susana just signed for $1.7 million. By comparison, Hunter Brown is ranked 81 and Leon is outside the top 100. I'd say Brown and Leon are roughly on par, maybe a bit better than the 4th and 5th pieces the San Diego traded.
Their top prospects our better than our top prospects. Probably have to give up Pena to compete with that deal.
