Rodon has been mentioned here and I still think he and Yaz would be the kind of trade that makes the Yankees and their fans worried.

F it. Houston should just pay up for Bryan Reynolds. His projections put him roughly on par with Springer. He’s a legit star and would solve a multiyear problem.

This is subjective, but the Yankees/Dodgers/Mets seem to be doing pretty good this year.

I'm sure he's good with it. He'll get a chance to play everyday once again and will be back in September/October to be around the Playoff atmosphere. What's the cap on September call ups now? I'm guessing Bielak will probably be here, too.

No guarantee that either will be back, in fact I would say the most likely scenario is both leave.

Having said that Christian Vazquez will have the opportunity to impress the Astros and get a possible solid offer from them.

He is 32 years old, has a solid reputation as a game manager and is an offensive upgrade and a strong defensive catcher.

    It's not even close.
8.3 WAR in ~1500 PA over his first 5 years for Mullins.
11.3 WAR in ~1500 PA over his first 3 years for Springer.

He's Good, but not George Springer good.

He knew it was just till Castro got back and he's been here much longer than expected. He probably looks forward to playing.

Don't encourage anyone to follow Passan.

If the Padres end up ponying up for both Soto and Bell, hats off to them. I hope they curbstomp the Dodgers.

While I don't think it happens, ownership and the front office are open to anything today. They did the required heavy lifting yesterday and will see if they can add a top bat or two.

The Astros essentially used none of their assets yesterday and they also have payroll flexibility to play with.

Right now the Cubs and some of the other teams are asking for too much, lets see what happens.

They couldn't spend like a drunken sailor if they hadn't spent wisely to get their assets.

We'll see how these trades look 4 years from now.

He said Reynolds, not Mullins. Reynolds is at 12.1 career WAR over his first three seasons (combining shortened 2020 with this year so far).

might be too attached, but I’m not ready to block Pedro Leon. He’s an offseason away from being your longterm CF with star-type upside.

He said Reynolds, not Mullins. Reynolds had 10.7 WAR through his first 1400 PA (3 seasons).

I thought we were talking about Bryan Reynolds? What's Mullins got to do with this?

That's cool, but Mullins isn't Bryan Reynolds.

Baseball reference has Springer at 11.3 WAR in 1540 PA in his first 3 years

Bryan Reynolds is at 12.1 WAR in 1756 PA in his first 4 years (partial 2022 + abbreviated 2020). Normalized to Springer's number of PA, he's at 10.6. If you believe Reynolds' .632 OPS in 2020 was an aberration, he actually put up more WAR than Springer in his first 1500 non-covid year plate appearances.

Springer at this point of course pulled off 3 straight all star appearances -- but it's a fair question of what would you pay for 3.5 years of Reynolds entering his prime.

You must not go to the GARM very often.
