Supposedly they are not done if prices come down at the deadline. They wanted to add what they felt they had to add and have the flexibility to address CF, 1st and pen if deals can be made. They no longer feel their is a gun to their forehead.

Nationals, A’s, Orioles and a couple other teams have had really high asking prices.

The hope is some of the deals today stimulate activity.

Crane says they have money (guessing what was maybe earmarked for Correa), and hinted at moveS. It wouldn't shock me if they landed a surprise ToR arm or a "wtf" CF (dreams of Trout) out of nowhere. Crane, at least via the few media reports, is signaling he's going all-in on this team for this year.

Can you imagine Click going all out for a CF using our SP depth?

The lineup would look even more disgusting.

Looking at league wide bullpen meltdowns, I still think ours does a good job for the most part.

It would obviously be easier to get RP help tho.

For the people upset Valdez was traded, the Astros really were down on his defense and he wasn’t likely to ever start at second for the Astros with his glove issues.

I don’t think Mullins is in play because surely they would’ve done it all at the same time. So Reynolds would be the big splash if there is one. Happ would be an outside possibility. I would be very surprised if Bell or Cooper or Laureano were still in the mix.

I am pretty confident they will get a reliever but it’s impossible to know which one.

@Nook do you think Bell is out of the picture now? Seems that Brian McTaggart believes they are.

Who determines a minor leaguer's ranking in an org? Reporters talk about it like there is an official rank.

I would’ve gone with the guy currently at 2nd will be there awhile as the reason, but I guess defense works too. :)

I liked Valdez in theory as an Aledmys Diaz-like Utility bat, but if he can’t commit to playing the field, then he’s got limited value in the current window.

It’s a bit arbitrary by nature, I agree, but all these big baseball publications and media outlets have their own rankings. CF’s rankings come via Snake, TellIt, ProspectHugger, JoeJoe, and the others I’m forgetting off the top of my head
