I corrected my original post because I left the figure out. I think he deserves what Tate got, which is also based partly on potential. Sounds like you think that’s still an overpay, and you might be right.

Dort got $15m/year this offseason. He’s a little better than KPJ, but they have similar career trajectories. Hard to use that as a measuring stick because I thought it was a serious overpay. It’s hard not to think that teams are more likely to do that for high character guys.

KPJ runs the risk in not signing a team-friendly extension that he might become less of a development priority. On a young, rebuilding team, playing time is best used to develop young guys. The team may choose to develop other players instead of someone who's going to leave. And KPJ is conversely less likely to earn a big deal from someone else if he isn't getting the minutes necessary to put up big numbers.

I'm in agreement. Kevin Porter jr is about to seize the league as
the Rockets have invested time, effort, and patience and the
fruits of that tree are about to cultivate.

All the stress on Porter were during these past two years as the
team was tanking.....the rest should be easy by way of repetition
and routine. In other words n flare ups expected.

People don't understand how hard it has been to train
Porter to move to PG and how hard it was to get on the
    job training as Porter did.

Now the Rockets have a go to play that they have been
lacking for the past two years..... Pick-n-Pop with Jabari.

Whenever things get stagnant....Rockets should go
Pick-n-Pop with Jabari clutching the Porter or Green
defender forcing Porter or Green going to the rack vs
one defender......if help defender comes over that will mean
    corner shooter is open.

*Note Jabari grabs PG or SG defending Green/Porter but then releases.
That defender tends to follow Green/Porter in case of hesy or pump fake.

Jabari should be open to shoot the FT line shot. At 6'11".....that PG/SG
that just left him has little chance of altering Jabari's shot. Now there are
not many players I like shooting that mid range shot....maybe Hade /CP3/
    Steph/Durant....Jabari will get there soon.

From there Ja ari can also be the hub of the offense. Sometimes hitting
Porter near the rim. That Jabari height will provide angles for passes to
the corners or lobs near the rim.

People can expect as I said: Porter: 20 pts...5.5 rebs....7.8 Ast.

Pay the man now (less) or (much more) later.

    I'm done talking about it!

I think if you're a rookie or second year player and you hear the team has told the most talented young player on the team that if he doesn't sign a lowball insult of a contract they were going to intentionally harm the team by cutting his playing time..... you start planning your exit because that's not a team that is serious about EVER winning.

Cheapskate tactics might work for the pocketbook of the owner, but they are suicide for the team.

People reading into it too much, rockets clearly believe in him and he has stated many times he loves the organisation. Let him play out the season and go from there UNLESS his willing to accept a team friendly deal.

So much hype for such an inconsistent player... I really hope that KPJ can eventually develop into 75% of what you think he already is.

If you're Green or Smith Jr., there's zero chance YOU think that KPJ is the most talented young player on the team. That guy is YOU. And the team prioritizing YOUR development and YOUR shots over KPJ's could be a positive.

That is a HOT take. I don’t think there is any real way to back that statement up. I’m also sure most people think that contract was a wild overpay by a desperate team. I think he is the first player ever to get a $100M contract without ever making an All-Star team.

Yes, for all I know, Porter's agent won't settle for less than $20-something mil
because the agent understands that Porter is going to do well stat-wise and
in the construct of team scheme. Understanding the going rate for other
PG's in the league and how the Porter performance will stack up.

As far as Im concerned, all the heavy lifting as it pertains to Porter
has been done. Just a matter of him dribbling a little less.

You clearly think very little of Green and Smith's intelligence.

Not only would I hope that Smith and Green would be more realistic about where they are currently at when it comes to their skills.... but also I'd hope that they'd realize cutting minutes from the only competent ball handling guard on the roster would negatively effect their game.

I said the same about Jalen Green.

At some point you say all there is to say.....then I said from here on out
Jalen will and needs to speak for himself. I would say he did.

Now this discussion about Porter extension is done imo.

If Porter has an issue of legal matter or disrupts the order of things
with this team.....I will be the first to say others were right.

    But if Porter puts up: 20+points....5.5 rebs....7-8 Ast.....1.9 TOV's then I will
say, DD, Bobby, maj21 and myself were right......and now it's going to cost
    the Rockets morrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeee!

My guess is Cuban wheels and deals to free up money and offers
Porter $25M and we don't match because we slide Christopher over
to point full time. And Porter with help of Doncic kicks our @$$ every game.

    What did I remove ?

An outlier that's 0.007 and a small sample size that is more the realm of a "2guard" in "catch and shoot" than the "lead guard" that is Porters role..

He was great in catch and shoot situations .482 but if you remove those it shows he was below average in the shots that are more relevant to a lead guard - creating his own shots .334. while league average was .375

Obviously Green is a 2guard - those catch and shoot numbers should be his bread and butter. If you remove them, he should look worse.

This is horrible logic. 37.5% is not league average for self created shots, so stop using that as an apples to apples comp. Take away any player’s catch and shoot shots, any point guard, and their % will look like crap.

They get into it right off the bat, and I agree with @Clutch on KPJ, which I made clear before watching this. On target post, @i3artow i3aller.
